Role

Barnardo's South Ayrshire Services delivers a range of family support services to children, young people and families in North, South and East Ayrshire. We deliver a flexible range of early intervention-based services aimed at building resilience and promoting positive outcomes for children.

We are seeking to expand our team of Project 1 “As and When Required” staff and we are inviting applications from individuals interested in supporting us with our work.

This is an opportunity to work with children, young people and families who are experiencing adversity in a number of areas including poverty, homelessness and parenting support.

The post holder will have experience of direct work with children and young people in either a community or residential setting, but this does not have to have been gained in a formal employment setting.

Essentially you will

  • Work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.
  • Work co-operatively with children's services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the most effective service for children young people and families.
  • Contribute to Service development.
  • Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.

At Barnardo's we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our safer recruitment processes mean that the safety and welfare of the child is paramount at every stage of the process and therefore, we adopt rigorous scrutiny in our pre-employment checking. This post is subject to a range of pre-employment checks including a Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure for the successful candidate.
