Role

Monica Lennon MSP is looking for a Casework and Community Engagement Officer to join her team

You will become part of a small team supporting Monica Lennon MSP in her Central Scotland regional office. You will often be the first point of contact for constituents and local organisations in a role that will involve attending advice surgeries and meetings in the many towns and villages throughout the region.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about helping people living and working in Central Scotland. You will need to have excellent communication and planning skills, strong attention to detail, and demonstrate exceptional organisational skills. No two days or locations are the same. The role would suit someone who can thrive in an office environment, attend regional meetings and visits, and work independently in a hybrid environment.

If you are keen to ensure that people across parts of South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire & Falkirk have an advocate on local and national issues, and you can offer knowledge and understanding of the communities and campaigns that are important to Monica’s regional work, we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be required to manage a varied mix of constituency casework, correspondence and projects. Normal working hours are 0900 to 1700, with occasional evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Correspond with constituents by telephone, email, social media, letter and face-to-face.
  • Take action to resolve, document and escalate concerns or enquiries.
  • Draft written correspondence including letters, reports, requests for information and briefings.
  • Liaise with a wide range of bodies across Central Scotland and support relationships with individuals, community groups, statutory services and voluntary organisations.
  • Handle a high volume of casework, including complex and sensitive issues, and keep accurate entries in case systems in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Support community campaigns and undertake research to help inform the MSPs work.
  • Attend local advice surgeries and meetings.
  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret casework data to ensure Monica is accurately informed on key issues.

  • Knowledge of data protection, confidentiality and GDPR protocols.
