Role

MULTI-CULTURAL FAMILY BASE is an innovative organisation which seeks to improve the lives of children and families with the principles of equality, social justice and anti-discrimination at its core. Approximately 60% of our multidisciplinary workforce is from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background.

The organisation’s key objective is to support BAME individuals, children and parents deal with important transition points - this can be the birth of a child, the move into primary school or the move to Edinburgh for families who are refugee and asylum seekers or new migrants. In addition, we combine our service delivery with practice learning by providing high quality and diverse placement opportunities for social work students from academic institutions across Scotland.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team.

MCFB is seeking a qualified, skilled and motivated individual to support the enhancement of community cohesion by promoting the participation and engagement of vulnerable and disadvantaged BAME children aged 8-16 in their schools and communities.

You will have a relevant professional qualification (or equivalent practice experience) and have experience of group and individual interventions with children within the 8-16 age range. Experience of work with BAME children and families and a strong commitment to anti-oppressive practice are also essential. The post requires membership of the PVG Scheme.

This post is funded by Equality and Human Rights Fund - Inspiring Scotland. Initially, the contract would be offered until October 2024 but may continue beyond, depending on funding.
