Due to recent growth in the Glasgow area, we now have a fantastic opportunity for motivated, positive, resilient individuals who really believe in young people, are flexible regarding hours of work and can help us to deliver includem’s innovative approach. Includem are committed to developing employees and will help you to achieve the relevant qualifications required to carry out the role. These qualifications will be fully funded by includem. The successful candidate should have a full driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
The Glasgow Intensive Family Support Services service works in collaboration with Glasgow Health and Care Partnership (HSCP) alongside other Third Sector organisations, with a co-located base within HSCP children’s services. Working within communities across the city using the voice, validation, hope model, a co-produced family engagement model, workers focus on strengths and assets with families and communities in order to bring about sustainable change to keep families together. Referrals come from social work for young people aged 12-18, however, with the focus being on whole family support, parents/carers, other family members and younger children within the family will also benefit from the support being provided.
What does the role involve?
This role will involve supporting children and young people who are in conflict with the law, using a trauma informed approach. The service currently takes referrals from Early and Effective Intervention, Diversion from Prosecution, Youth Court and Youth Justice Social Work teams. Knowledge and understanding of justice systems and the impact these can have on children, young people and their families would be beneficial.
Due to the likely nature of referrals being for young people with complex needs, candidates should be trauma informed and be able to evidence their skills and knowledge in this area. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate skills in establishing positive working relationships with children, young people, parents and carers in order to achieve outcomes, alongside demonstrating personal resilience in their own ability to cope with and manage the challenges this role may bring for them on a daily basis.
