The Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) is a Scottish strategic racial equality charity based in Glasgow. It tackles structural racism in Scotland using evidence-based and rights-based approaches.
The organisation was set up two decades ago to undertake research, policy development, lobbying, campaigning, and network building across all areas where racial injustices persist. In that time, working with the Scottish Government, academia, non-governmental organisations and other public agencies, it has proven to have significant influence on national policies and practices.
To lead this organisation, the Executive Director will need to understand the issues that adversely impact the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities and the policy landscape in which CRER operates.
You will need to be passionate about challenging racism and determined to instigate real change for Scotland’s minority communities.
You should have lived experience of racism to have the understanding necessary to lead this exceptional organisation.
As well as this, the organisation requires someone with strong strategic leadership and management experience who is confident about challenging policy makers to address unfair practices and racism.
Your values should be aligned with the vision and values of CRER.
You will be adept at securing funding for a charitable organisation and building strong partnership with government and funders.
You will be strategic and analytical and able to communicate the message to external audiences clearly and with impact.
