Role

Do you enjoy helping people out of difficult situations?

Are you a people person who can advocate on people’s behalf if they are unable to do so?

Would you like to help people get more money and be less stressed?

We are looking for 2 income maximisation advisers who will work directly with people to improve their financial situation. If you have experience of providing benefit and/or money advice then we would love to hear from you.

These posts are based within our Advice and Employability Team in Edinburgh and are part of the wider income maximisation service funded by the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board. We are a supportive team of people who really care about uplifting our communities and helping individuals and families thrive.

At present most of these services are provided via telephone appointments from home but some services may start to be operating face to face advice soon. We will continue to work in a blended manner i.e., a mixture of working from home, outreach locations and from our offices all in a safe and socially distanced manner.

CHAI offers the following exceptional benefits:

  • Flexible working
  • Access to health plan
  • 32 days of annual leave + public holidays
  • Enrolment to a pension scheme

This Adviser will help maximise income through advice and casework on benefits and debt to people actively engaging with the substance recovery hubs in Edinburgh. The Recovery Hubs are a one-stop shop service offering a full range of drug and alcohol treatments and supports provided by the NHS, Social Work and the voluntary sector. Referrals come from the partners within the network such as Social Workers, Community Psychiatric nurses and support workers and close liaising with these professionals is necessary to ensure that the clients receive a smooth service.

Ideally, we would like someone who has work experience or knowledge of working within substance misuse services and the ability to work alongside other professionals providing this service. Experience of providing benefits and debt advice would greatly help but suitable transferable skills and a quick learning aptitude will also be considered.
