About us
Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
Crisis is committed to ensuring that people with lived experience of homelessness are involved in developing and delivering our services.
About the role
In these exceptional times, we need more than ever to focus on ending homelessness for more of our members. The Crisis Skylight Edinburgh team deliver life changing services which are very much focused on having the greatest impact on our members. To support this goal the team are about to move into a new and exciting central Edinburgh premises, which will undoubtedly increase our ability to have even greater impact for members and our goal of Ending Homelessness.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead operational activities directly to our members and to contribute to Crisis’s wider strategy to End Homelessness across the UK via the achievement of the following objectives:
• focus our services on ending homelessness for more of our members;
• improve member experience when engaging with Crisis;
• collaborate across the charity and beyond to end homelessness for more people.
Location: Edinburgh (There is an expectation for the postholder to be onsite most days)
About you
You will be an enthusiastic and driven leader, with experience of leading a team to deliver sustainable change for people – either within the homelessness sector or another relevant sector (such as housing, adult social care, education, training and employment). You will be adept at leading through change and relish implementing new ways of working within an operational team; maintaining a quality operational service and driving service innovation and continuous improvement in a way that reflects our values.
You will have both an understanding and a passion for inclusive delivery of person-centred services, using data and insight to help maximise impact. You will demonstrate knowledge of issues affecting homeless or vulnerably housed individuals which could include mental illness, addiction, the benefit system and housing. Being committed to empowering homeless and vulnerably housed people is essential to this role.
We believe diversity is a strength, and our aim is to make sure that Crisis truly reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards our organisation being a place where everyone can thrive and make their best contribution to our mission of ending homelessness for good. We know that the more perspectives, voices, and experiences we can bring to this work, the better. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of homelessness, and people from all marginalised groups, communities and backgrounds.
