Role

The Salvation Army in Edinburgh provides support for people who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple and complex needs. Our role is to provide a safe place to stay or visit with support. The service delivery model is rooted in the harm reduction approach, based on trauma informed practice, strength based and person-centred approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will work to develop trusting, trauma informed relationships with clients, other services and professionals.
  • Provide practical and individual support to clients.
  • The role involves hosting psychosocial support groups as well as other programme events that are deemed helpful to the client.

As the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Good knowledge of substance use, including expertise in harm reduction approaches as well as openness to work within all models of care
  • A highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach;
  • Genuine compassion for people in need;
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with clients who experience multiple complex needs whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries;
  • Ability to work within appropriate legislation, including data protection.
