Role

TCV is the UK’s leading practical conservation charity working with people from all sectors of the community in positive action to improve the environment.

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

This role is offered at 35 hours per week, 1 year contracted position starting November 22.

The main requirement of the role is to engage up to 40 young people living in Camelon in a one-year programme called Wild Outdoors. This is a programme of outdoor activities which they have chosen themselves and which will help them cope with day-to-day challenges, increase wellbeing, skills, confidence and life chances.

Specific outdoor activities will be chosen by the young people but might include: path-building at the Nature Trail, shelter-building, using the kelly kettle to make hot chocolate, stick-carving and pond-dipping. "

Wild Outdoors builds on outdoor action and nature-based activity delivered over the past three years and reflects feedback/consultation from the young people we have engaged throughout Covid 19 lockdown and restrictions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to deliver this youth project supporting individuals to gain a valuable experience.

We are looking for candidates who can combine experience in environmental, conservation, with experience of working with young people with barriers.

Other elements of the role will include, but not be limited to -

  • Health and safety management, including producing risk assessments.
  • Managing TCV’s local resources, including the office, tools, and vehicles.
  • Assisting with controlling the project budgets and writing reports
  • Engaging with appropriate local groups and partners.
  • Using online and offline materials to promote TCV’s work to new partners and individuals.

A bit more about us:

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real-life challenges they face.

For over 60 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone.
