About Options Fife Continuing Care

At Aberlour we listen to understand what our young people want and need within our local area. Our Options Fife Continuing Care service in Glenrothes supports young people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live and thrive within the local community.

This service will be home to 4 young people aged 16 plus who will all have their own individual flat. Our rota has been drafted to suit the needs of the young people.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a full time (37.5 hours, working 3 x 12.5 hour shifts per week) Young People’s Worker to join our team. You will play a fundamental role in our young people’s lives to ensure that they get the best possible experience whilst working towards goals in their care plan. Using a person-centred approach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical and emotional care, supporting our young people in their daily living and within the local community.

If you have an interest in working with young people, we would like to hear from you. Ideally, candidates will have social care experience, understanding of autism, complex needs and disability. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (for example: SVQ3 Care plus an HNC) together with relevant experience of working with children or young people. You must also be able to demonstrate awareness of the key elements of working with people affected by disability as well as an understanding of, and commitment to, young people’s rights.

About Aberlour Children’s Charity

Aberlour is one of the largest Scottish children’s charities, celebrating 150 years helping to improve the lives of Scotland’s disadvantaged children and young people. At Aberlour we know that not all children are born with an equal chance so we work to support children, young people and families overcome poverty, disadvantage and discrimination.

Our staff teams are critical in delivering this support and therefore need exceptional training. Many of our services are registered with the Care Inspectorate and staff have to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. This registration includes a requirement to meet a minimum level of qualification.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a qualified assessor to support SVQ assessment across the organisation.

We are approved by the SQA to deliver SVQs in Social Services (Children & Young People). To enable assessment in this award you should have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above along with your assessor award.

Your experience should include working in a relevant care setting, assessment of at least 4 candidates through to completion of their SVQ’s. You must be able to demonstrate that you have experience of planning, preparation, delivery and evaluation of learning activities in a social care setting.

The post is 37.5hrs per week and will require travel across Scotland. Your work base can be flexible, we are able to support a mix of office and home working as required.

Home-Start Clackmannanshire are looking for vibrant, enthusiastic individuals, particularly those with knowledge/ skills relating to the Scottish Health system or Communications and Marketing, to join our board of trustees.

About us:

Home-Start offers guidance, friendship and practical support to families across Clackmannanshire who have at least one child under the age of twelve. We work with families to help them overcome issues impacting their lives, through a range of family support services. Our families are each unique, however common issues we support include: isolation and loneliness, mental health difficulties, bereavement, family breakdown, addiction, and physical ill-health. We’ve been supporting local families across Clackmannanshire since 1988. The Home-Start team (staff, volunteers and trustees) are committed to ensuring that children are given the best possible start in life as #childhoodcantwait.

The role of our trustees:

Charity trustees are responsible – and accountable - for the governance and strategy of their charity. They are responsible for making sure that their charity is administered effectively and can account for its activities and outcomes.

As a trustee on our board, you will contribute to:

1. Providing leadership and direction within the ethos of Home-Start.

2. Ensuring the scheme has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction.

3. Being responsible for the effective performance and management of the scheme.

4. Ensuring the scheme complies with legal and regulatory requirements, the objects of the scheme, the governing documents including the Home-Start Standards and Methods of Practice, the Home-Start Agreement and quality standards.

5. Securing and guarding the scheme’s assets and taking care of their security, deployment, and proper application.

6. Ensuring that the scheme’s governance is of the highest possible standard.

7. Undertaking an ambassadorial role for the scheme.

8. Appointing sub-committees and agreeing their terms of reference and membership.

Time Commitment:

Our board meets every 7-8 weeks, a hybrid approach where trustees can attend in-person meetings at our offices in Alloa or via Teams. Our offices are fully accessible.

As a trustee, you would also attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) once a year.

Support:

Volunteers are the heart of Home-Start, and so in return for your time and commitment, you will be fully supported in role by our Chair. A full induction will be provided, and opportunities for both training and networking are also available.

All reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Family Mediation West provides support to families affected by separation, divorce, and conflict. We have premises in Glasgow and Kilmarnock allowing us to offer services across the West of Scotland. We are affiliated to Relationship Scotland, who support a national network of 21 local service providers for individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship breakdown. The values and the standards of the organisation help to ensure effective support can be provided to help families through difficult times.

We are seeking an administrator, with experience, to support a broad range of administration tasks within a family conciliation service. Full support and training will be given for this role within both the service provisions well as all our operational systems. FM West operations largely deal with service users, their family solicitors, and the Scottish Court system. The role may suit a candidate well that has experience of administration within a legal, charity, social work, or child services background. There is full training on operations available, and the opportunity to work alongside our current administrators who will provide personalised 1-2-1 on the job support to the successful candidate.
