Role

Glasgow Association for Mental Health is one of the principal providers of community mental health services in Greater Glasgow. Our services support people with mental health problems to recover and lead self-determined and purposeful lives. GAMH are also commissioned by the Glasgow Carers Partnership to deliver support to carers through our two Carers Centres in the West and South West of the city. The Carers Centres provide inclusive and holistic support to carers to maintain their quality of life and improve their health and wellbeing through the provision of an Adult Carers Support Plan or Young Carers Statement which is person centred, coordinated, and outcome focussed on the needs of the carer.

We wish to appoint the following:

Training Coordinator West Carers Centre

GAMH, as part of the Glasgow Carers Partnership, works closely with other Carer Centres across the city and the Social Work Carer Support Teams which are located in each of the 3 sectors of the city to ensure carers can access the right support at the right time in their caring journey from early intervention and diagnosis to crisis and emergencies.

Successful applicants will be required to work across two Carers centres within the West and North West of the city.

Applicants must have proven experience of communicating positively and effectively with colleagues, and a range of partner organisations, to identify training needs, or a similar role and have a good understanding of adult learning needs and the barriers posed to unpaid carers

A qualification or background in Education, Social Work, Community Work, Social Care, SVQ 3 or equivalent which can be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council or a willingness to undertake such a qualification is desirable.

Knowledge of the SSSC’s Codes of Practice and the National Care Standards and how this framework applies to practice is preferred for all posts.

All applicants must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working will be required. Full induction and training will be provided.

These posts are regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An offer of work with Glasgow Association for Mental Health will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory.
