For over 140 years, St Andrew’s First Aid has been teaching first aid to the people of Scotland. We are a trusted organisation, built into the fabric of national life, and are standard setters in first aid.
We are working in partnerships to identify and deliver unique projects to promote and improve first aid knowledge and skills throughout Scotland. Our aim is to encourage local communities to become active stakeholders in learning first aid skills. We are seeking to recruit a motivated individual to deliver our Community Engagement Strategy. The post holder will work with new and existing community groups, schools and organisations throughout Scotland and maintain relationships with the wider local community.
This role will involve liaison and consultation with and delivery of talks, demonstrations and training sessions for a very diverse range of community-based interests. This will include designing and facilitating workshops, organising meetings, events and activities with organisations and groups, e.g. small volunteer led community groups, public sector agencies, schools, local networks and volunteers); general administrative support, e.g. grant funders monitoring and reporting requirements as well as close collaboration with partners in order to promote the delivery of first aid skills and knowledge. You will also be responsible for raising awareness of St Andrew’s First Aid.
The ideal candidate will be expected to:
• have experience in delivering first aid and/or mental health first aid sessions
• show practical and successful experience of delivering and implementing new services and approaches to volunteers;
• have excellent organisational, planning and facilitation skills
• coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners.
The role will be based at our training centre which is located nearest to your home address, but will require travel to other areas.
