Role

Opened in 1969, the Scottish Fisheries Museum is situated on the harbour front in Anstruther, a picturesque coastal village close to St Andrews. The collection includes stories of Scotland’s fishing communities from times long since passed as well as valuable items such as fishing gear, paintings, model boats and archive photographs amongst its tens of thousands of exhibits. The Museum is also custodian of several vessels, including the 122-year-old Reaper, a Fifie sailing herring drifter.

The museum, galleries, and offices are in a series of historic buildings owned by the Charity, including two category A listed buildings, while the collections are recognised as nationally significant by Museum Galleries Scotland.

The Board of Trustees is looking for a new, inspirational, and dynamic Director to help it create a new vision for the future and an organisation which has the ability to deliver it. You will need to have senior and strategic leadership experience, outstanding income generation skills, be an excellent communicator and stakeholder relationship manager as well as experienced in motivating and leading a team.
