Role

The Traditional Buildings Health Check is a proactive building maintenance service operated by Stirling City Heritage Trust. We provide advice and inspection services to traditional property owners in Stirling. The service is expanding to provide energy efficiency and retrofit advice to traditional building owners and associated grants

The role

The Heritage Traineeship is suitable for a recent graduate who is keen to develop a career within the heritage sector. They will be a key part of the team and will receive training throughout their period with the Trust. They need to be a self-starter who has enthusiasm for traditional buildings, heritage and particularly energy efficiency and tackling the Climate Emergency.

They will work with other team members to help promote and deliver the new Retrofit Project, organising of training events for contractors and delivery of outreach activities.

This exciting new role requires someone with great communication and organisational skills, enthusiasm for traditional buildings and how we can improve their energy efficiency and a flexible, ‘can do’ attitude. The Trust will offer shadowing with the team, training and on the job experience of live heritage projects.

To meet this role the Trust is seeking an individual with the following:

  • Qualification to degree level.
  • Understanding of the construction and materials of traditional buildings.
  • An interest in energy efficiency/ retrofit and the challenges of retrofit for traditional buildings.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate with a broad range of people including the public, building professionals and contractors.
  • Excellent organisational skills: ability to work to tight deadlines; co-ordinate a number of tasks simultaneously; prioritise, programme and self-manage a busy workload.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Good written skills. Strong experience of writing and presenting information in a clear and concise manner.
