Role

FASS is a Glasgow wide charity that supports families affected by a loved one’s alcohol or drug misuse. We also provide support to a number affiliated Family Support, Bereavement and Kinship Groups in the Glasgow area. We are hoping to expand our volunteer and group base and plan to recruit a highly motivated individual with a proven record of accomplishment in developing groups and a volunteer programme within a charity context. This role will be split into 2 areas.

Volunteer coordinator:will be responsible for reviewing current volunteer policies, setting up a recruitment policy and improving induction pack, supporting existing volunteers with their training and development plans, on- going recruitment of volunteers from various aftercare recovery groups throughout Glasgow, carrying out induction and training with these volunteers and regularly carrying out support and supervision at their aftercare recovery group location. The role will include liaison with other agencies, monitoring of service and writing reports. Training and development needs of volunteers will be looked at and a full training programme will be developed for new and existing volunteers. Volunteers will be sourced in partnership with Recovery Co-ordinators.

Group Development: will be responsible for supporting, maintaining and delivering a range of support services to Family, Bereavement and Kinship support groups. This will include liaison with other agencies, monitoring of service and writing of reports. To identify, source and provide groups with information concerning funding opportunities. Where required, help groups with funding applications and draw up basic yearly accounts. To identify training and development needs within groups and network with local providers to ensure delivery of this to groups. To identify and act on opportunities to set up new support groups.

A large focus will be on Mental Health and Wellbeing for Group Members, Clients and Volunteers. This will include activities to promote Health and Wellbeing. Currently these are promoted with our Spa, a Baking/Cooking class, a Walking Group (excluding winter months) and an online coffee break. These have been set to be online due to the pandemic, however can be introduced face to face when possible. These or similar activities would be organised by the successful candidate.
