Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead Edinburgh’s offer of organisational development and support to the burgeoning charity, voluntary and community sector. The successful candidate will show excellent sector knowledge and leadership, continually delivering and reviewing what the sector needs and how EVOC can meet those needs. This job needs both a person with good attention to detail and a calm conciliatory approach to work successfully with people and organisations in difficulty.

The Senior Development Officer will lead the small team who primarily deliver organisational development and capacity building support to voluntary organisations in Edinburgh through identifying, prioritising and responding to the needs of the sector. They will also design and deliver individual and collective intervention activities to satisfy the identified needs. As many organisations in our sector are continually facing zero-development budgets, they will work with the development staff to identify opportunities for resources to deliver these activities alongside identify funding opportunities for categories of organisations seeking support.

We are looking for someone to join the EVOC team who:

  • Has a good understanding and knowledge of the practical application of organisational development, capacity building, training and support principles, policy and practice, in voluntary sector
  • Can bring expertise in the practical application of governance, trustee and charity law
  • Can demonstrate confidence and experience in designing and delivering training courses to a range of stakeholders
  • Has strong leadership and line management skills, together with ability to work constructively with peers in a dynamic relationship
  • Can bring a positive, proactive and flexible approach
