Barnardo's Early Intervention Service (BEIS) is recruiting

Barnardo's Early Intervention Service aims to support children, families and communities to recognise and understand the signs of child sexual exploitation (CSE), ensuring early identification of children vulnerable to CSE, and the prevention of harm.

Interventions include long and short term 1:1 support session with young people, delivering group work around healthy relationships and exploitation

Providing consultancy to key stakeholders within children and young people's helping teams

Providing awareness training to professionals through a range of community events from briefing sessions to full training days supporting communities to better understand CSE and strategies to keep children and young people safe. This training is regularly reviewed and updated from a local perspective, whilst reflecting national strategies

The Project Worker 2 will work in partnership with a range of agencies to ensure that strategies are coordinated with a trauma informed, victim-centred approach. This multi-agency network includes, but is not limited to: Social work; Schools; Residential Care Providers; Health; Police; SCRA and other third sector parties.

Applicants should have:

  • You will hold a relevant qualification- (Community Education Worker -Degree/Diploma, Social Worker -Degree/Dip Social Work or an equivalent qualification)– Plus post qualifying experience of working with young people and families in community and/or statutory settings
  • Ideally you will have relevant experience of working with children and young people in a similar role/context.
  • Awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people and families (e. g. disadvantage, poverty, disability).
  • Knowledge of child/young people development
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to service aims

The Project Worker 2 will apply Safeguarding and Child Protection policies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people at all times.

The posts are based in our offices at Oxgangs Road North but much of the direct work with service users will take place in homes, schools and other community settings. Some early morning or evening working may be required as we strive to provide a flexible service that meets the needs of our service users at a time and place that suits our service users.
