Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) is undergoing an exciting period of reform designed to make a step change in improving the outcomes for infants, children and young people who need us most. As the Recruitment and Retention coordinator, we are looking for a creative, motivated and proactive professional to join our Team.

As Recruitment and Retention Coordinator, you will support the co-ordination and administration of the work of the Recruitment and Retention Lead in projects, programmes, and campaigns for Children’s Hearings Scotland particularly in relation to the upcoming Care and Justice bill (from 2023), annual Panel Members recruitment campaigns and reappointment requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting as directed to ensure implementation of the CHS’ Panel Member recruitment strategy dedicated to ensuring that we attract and appoint high quality people to serve on our children’s panels and Area Support Teams (AST) across Scotland.
  • Work with colleagues internally and externally to effectively support all Panel Member recruitment campaigns and activities.
  • Support the project management of national recruitment campaign in conjunction with National team members and local representatives, ensuring the alignment with project milestones and budgets; local resources; and key campaign messages.
  • Responsible for administration of CHS internal digital system which enables online recruitment applications and reappointments.
  • Liaising and co-ordinating work with partners, Area Support Teams and local authority Clerks regarding requirements of resources to support all Panel Member recruitment campaigns.
  • Undertaking general administrative tasks associated with the overall campaign and projects.
  • Monitor and extract regular relevant recruitment and digital statistics and assisting with producing all campaign reports.
  • Act as point of contact and respond effectively to support all Panel Member recruitment campaign queries, both internally and externally, including monitoring and managing relevant mailboxes.
  • Supporting the planning, organising and co-ordinating of local, regional or national events.
  • Undertake other work as may be required, which is consistent with the nature of the job and it’s level of responsibility.
  • In the spirit of positive team working, willingly lend support to colleagues and members of our volunteer community when possible, in their times of pressure and demand.
  • Proactively explore ways to continuously improve the effectiveness of your role in order to support the delivery of CHS outcomes.

Please note that you may be required to travel across Scotland and work on occasion outside CHS’ normal working hours to meet the requirements of the job.

Our 2,500 volunteer Panel Members take part in children’s hearings in their local areas, making decisions with and for infants, children and young people. Our organisation currently also supports a network of 22 Area Support Teams made up of 400 volunteers who support Panel Members in their local communities.
