The Organisation

Baltic Street Adventure Playground is a playground in Dalmarnock, east Glasgow. The

playground is a permanent child-led space, run on democratic principles. It is a place where children's needs come first, and where they are encouraged and supported to take an active role in all aspects of playground life. Baltic Street is staffed by several experienced playworkers/managers/fundraiser. Everything the organisation does is supported by a volunteer team and a board of trustees.

The Role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Worker with a passion for outdoor learning and child-led play. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a positive impact on children's early development in a natural and stimulating environment.

Responsibilities

- Foster a safe and nurturing environment that encourages exploration, curiosity, and creativity in children aged 3-5 years.

- Design and implement age-appropriate activities that promote outdoor learning, nature connection, and child-led play.

- Support children in developing their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional skills through engaging outdoor experiences.

- Collaborate with the team to plan and deliver a curriculum that aligns with national standards and promotes holistic child development.

- Observe and assess children's progress, providing individualized support and guidance as needed.

- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, sharing updates on their child's development and outdoor learning experiences.

Requirements

- Minimum SVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent qualification.

- Proven experience working in an early years setting, with a focus on outdoor learning and child-led play.

- Excellent knowledge of child development theories, outdoor education principles, and the benefits of nature-based experiences.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

- A genuine passion for working with young children, fostering their love for the outdoors, and promoting their holistic development.

- Demonstrated ability to adapt activities and learning experiences to meet the diverse needs and abilities of children.

Preferred Qualifications:

- First Aid/CPR certification.

- Additional certifications or training related to outdoor education, forest schools, or nature-based play.
