Since April 2021, the charity ProjectScotland is now part of the Volunteering Matters family.

ProjectScotland support people to get on in life, using the power of volunteering. We support people, including those facing multiple barriers or disadvantage, to achieve positive outcomes for their future.

We provide people with personalised emotional and practical support, meaningful and supported volunteering opportunities through charity partners, and access to a reliable and positive Volunteer Mentor.

Role Purpose

We are looking for a talented, dynamic and professional Engagement Manager to join our North Lanarkshire Befriending project. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrate an understanding and total commitment to our organisational values.

The Engagement Manager will lead the day-to-day work of our North Lanarkshire Befriending Project where volunteer befrienders provide 1:1 support to children and young people aged 8-18 who are young carers. This project enables them to take time out, to be themselves and have fun with somebody they trust.

Your role will be

  • To provide 15 young carers with a trained and highly skilled befriender, this person will act as role model and plan fun activities within their local community.
  • All aspects of volunteer management such as attracting, recruiting, training, and supporting a variety of volunteer befrienders.
  • Appropriately matching and supporting volunteer befrienders and young carers.
  • Risks assess volunteer activity and carry out regular reviews.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication lines with colleagues,
  • volunteers, young people, families, partners, and others.
  • Promoting and representing Volunteering Matters and our work across the region.
  • Ensure monitoring, impact and evaluation information and data is collected and that the project
  • meets it’s agreed targets, reporting format and schedule. Assist the Delivery Leader by
  • preparing reports to funders.
  • Assisting with local business development opportunities including local research, liaising with
  • potential partners, assisting with funding applications.
  • Administration tasks including maintaining up to date, effective and accessible records, and the
  • use of Microsoft Office and other software packages.
  • Processing and monitoring project expenditure such as volunteer expenses costs.
  • Contribute to the wider Volunteering Matters team and upholding our values at all times.

Other

The post will be home based, however regular travel in and around North Lanarkshire is required to engage with people and partners. Internet access to enable remote working is essential.

IT equipment and infrastructure will be supplied. Post COVID-19 and in accordance with any social distancing guidelines there will be an expectation to travel and spend time across the area, to engage with beneficiaries, volunteers and colleagues.

This role requires membership of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme. Having a conviction will not necessarily cause a bar to employment.
