  • Actual starting salary £15,588. 18 hours per week over 3 days (days & timings to be mutually agreed). There will be a requirement for occasional evening/weekend working. Post funded until July 2027.

The Role

Space are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager to join our Youth Befriending Team.

The purpose of this role is to manage Space services that provide befriending to children and/or young people and their families. Ensuring quality, effectiveness, compliance and efficiency whilst holding the needs of the children/young people at the forefront.

The Project Manager will be a key leader in the Youth & Families team, building positive working relationships within Space and externally.

They will support the Head of Service to continually plan, monitor, assess and develop projects within the befriending services, and across the wider Youth & Families services.

They will be a role model for all staff and stakeholders, showing optimistic, determined and positive leadership

Key Tasks include:

  • Overseeing all day to day befriending activities which contribute to the delivery of Space services for children and young people affected by parental drug and/or alcohol use, living in kinship care and experiencing social isolation.
  • Managing a team of staff and volunteers in order to deliver high quality services for befriendees and befrienders within an agreed budget
  • Proactively engage with children/young people, their families, and stakeholders to plan and implement person-centred programmes to meet individuals needs
  • Maintaining accurate records of progress and outcomes, using the data to generate regular reports for funders
  • Raising awareness of and promoting Space befriending services and other Space services
  • Working alongside Space Fundraisers to locate opportunities for further funding and contribute to funding applications.

The successful person will have a recognised professional qualification in social work, youth work, community education, childcare or other subject relevant to this role.

They will have a sound understanding of the needs and challenges faced by families in a variety of different personal situations, in particular the effects of drug and/or alcohol use.

They will be able to demonstrate how their experience within a management role makes them a leader with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to naturally connect with a range of people across ages and walks of life.

This post requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
