Sacro’s Veterans Mentoring Service (VMS) has a new post available to work with veterans in Forth Valley. The service aims to support veterans who have served within the British Armed Forces and find themselves involved in or at risk of becoming involved in Scotland’s justice system.
VMS is an intensive mentoring and one to one support service that is focussed on walking beside veterans, at a time of significant challenge in their lives. The post holder will assist veterans to recognise and develop their life skills including accessing education and employment training, sustaining their tenancies and accommodation, addressing alcohol and substance use and building the confidence to make critical changes in their lives. These critical changes include addressing their offending behaviour, understanding the effects of this on their lives, the lives of their families and friends and the wider community.
The post holder should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required. A lived experience of the military or experience as part of a military lifestyle is essential to the post. Experience of collaborative working, advocacy and support is essential. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is crucial, as this type of work can be challenging. Experience of working with individual involved in the justice system is essential.
Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) will be a requirement for this post.
A valid driving licence and access to a car is essential for this post.

About Alternative Routes #Cashback
Our Alternative Routes service, funded by Cash Back for Communities, will work in partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Council and other community partners to provide alternative routes to young people aged 10 to 25 who are involved with or at risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system. Our service will take a whole system approach and provide support through street work and group sessions within our community hubs in Dumfries, Annan and Stranraer. We will follow a whole family, whole community approach to ensure our young people and have increased opportunities to achieve their goals.
What we are looking for....
We are looking to recruit a Young People’s Workers to join our new Alternative Routes #Cashback Service who will work 18 hours per week based in Dumfries. These hours will be worked in line with the needs of the families and young people we will be supporting and will include evenings, weekends and public holidays. This post is currently funded until 31st January 2029 by CashBack for Communities, and we are actively seeking further funding.
We are looking for someone to join our team in who is passionate about supporting children and young people to secure the best possible outcomes as they live and grow within their communities. Our aim is to ensure that children, young people and families are supported to build on their strengths, assets and interests to develop enduring capacity and resilience. Applicants should be enthusiastic, energetic and committed and, working in a culture based on respect, integrity, innovation and the ability to challenge.
You will bring a fresh and collaborative approach and, in discussion with the management team be willing to try new approaches to ensure strong and trusting relationships are developed with families and stakeholders.
You will have relevant experience and a sound knowledge of working with young people and families within communities, including child/adult protection issues as well as having experience of working with children and young people with trauma. You will recognise the diversity of communities, how approaches differ in localities and how we adapt our approach to these changing environments. You will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above.

Cadder Housing Association is a registered social landlord based in Glasgow which owns and maintains 699 homes for affordable rent and provides factoring services to over 400 private homeowners. The Finance Assistant will support the Treasurer by maintaining financial records, producing reports for internal church management, reporting externally as required, help prepare annual church budgets, and assist in the preparation of annual accounts for audit.
The Finance Assistant will have accounting accreditation by examination and will have experience working in a similar church or charity environment.
The person appointed to this role will be a committed Christian who plays a key part in enabling the church to honour God through integrity, transparency, and good financial management.
This role is based at the church office, with flexibility for some home working by arrangement. Line management will be through the Operations Manager and Church Treasurer, both of whom will provide ongoing advice and support.
