At Aberlour we listen to understand what our young people want and need within our local area. As such, our service in Glenrothes supports young people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live and thrive within the local community.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring our young people live their best lives and are valued members of their community. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role. We are looking for someone who will contribute to the leadership, management and development of services for children, young people and their families in line with agreed objectives and assist with service review and evaluation.

You will have relevant experience of working with children and young people with a disability and/or autism in a community or residential setting and understand the impact of disability on inclusion. You are required to meet the qualifications requirement for this post which is at SCQF Level 8 (e.g. HNC, SVQ Level 4). This post requires you to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Residential Child Care Worker with Supervisory Responsibilities.

There is an expectation that you will work 18.75 hours per week management time, and 18.75 hours on shift, offering direct support to the young people as part of our 4 week rolling residential rota, which includes evenings, weekends, nights and public holidays. There is also the requirement to undertake the occasional sleep over.

Candidates should:

• be qualified to Degree/Diploma level or equivalent in Social Work, Nursing, Community Learning and Development OR hold an SVQ4 Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 9.

• have experience of working with individuals with issues relating to their drug and/or alcohol use.

Candidates should:

• be qualified to HNC in Social Care or equivalent OR SVQ3 Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 7.

This service operates Fife-wide with clients accessing residential units further afield. The ability to travel where required is essential.

The roles will involve providing ongoing flexible support to women in their own accommodation, with a focus on harm reduction and tenancy sustainment within the community. The service will work in accordance with the Housing First and will enhance our existing service provision for women who have experienced domestic abuse.

Applicants should have good communication skills and a passion for supporting recovery from domestic abuse.

The Service

The Fife Visiting Support Services work with people in their own homes, sheltered housing, and temporary accommodation in the community throughout Fife to help them live independently, therefore access to a car and a full driving licence are essential.

The Job

Support Workers in the Fife Support Services are responsible for delivering a visiting care at home and/or housing support service to enable people to live as independently as possible in their own homes (including the provision of personal care and administering medication, where required, and help to enable people to develop practical household skills).

The post holder will provide emotional support, to assist people to take part in activities that matter to them and help them engage with their community to reduce social isolation.

It is the Support Workers responsibility to develop effective relationships with people affected by a range of challenges, support them to cope in difficult times and enable them to live a good life. In doing so, to provide emotional, practical and social support to help people to live as independently as possible and make informed choices in all aspects of their lives.

As a Support Worker in this service, you will support and assist service users to maximise their income and benefits and in applying for housing benefit. This might involve liaising with other agencies that may be involved with the service user, advocating on their behalf and accessing professional help if required and appropriate. In addition, you will support service users to cope with the responsibilities of a tenancy and help them take responsibility for the safety of themselves and their home.
