The Society provides financial support to people in their homes who are unable to work because of long term medical conditions. We have charitable status and manage Trust funds of over £5m which are used to provide grants and annuities.

We wish to appoint additional Trustees who will play an important role in leadership of the Society, setting its strategy and priorities and ensuring good governance.

The Society was established in 1805 and an updated Royal Charter was approved by the King in 2024 confirming our continuing mission of Home Support.

We will consider all applications and to maintain a diversity of skills, knowledge and experience on the Board and we are particularly interested in applications from individuals with any one of the following backgrounds:

  • Community experience of long-term medical conditions including healthcare and social welfare backgrounds.
  • Lived experience of long-term medical conditions either personal or as a carer
  • Business and financial experience

We also particularly welcome applications from people of working age as this group is currently under-represented on our Board.

This is a voluntary role so not remunerated. Reasonable expenses may be paid in accordance with the Society’s policies.

Ricefield Arts & Cultural Centre is a registered charity and social enterprise for the exploration and promotion of Chinese culture and has an excellent reputation for delivering original and inspiring creative experiences, cultural events and workshops to community groups, public institutions and arts audiences around Scotland.

We are currently looking to appoint a Treasurer to join our small Board. The Treasurer will be responsible for managing all financial matters on behalf of our organisation and will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation has robust financial processes to ensure it meets its legal and constitutional requirements. It will also be the responsibility of the Treasurer to report the financial position at the board meetings. While we encourage and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, we are keen to hear from candidates that have experience of charity financial management or are chartered in a suitable accountancy field.

All Trustees are required to attend monthly board meetings, either at our office located in the heart of Glasgow city centre or via Zoom. In addition, we ask Trustees to attend our annual board development day, important meetings with stakeholders and some events and projects, where possible. As Ricefield Arts is a social enterprise, the role also involves serving as our Board of Directors.

Please note that this is a voluntary role. Neither the Trustees nor Board of Directors receive any remuneration, however, travel expenses incurred in carrying out board duties will be fully reimbursed.

Other than the Treasurer, we also wish to appoint additional Trustee(s) with community engagement or cultural events management experience to serve our Board. Please check our website for more information.

The Butterfly Trust is the lead provider of social and psychosocial support for people affected by Cystic Fibrosis throughout Scotland. We provide a comprehensive range of outreach services for all ages of people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families across Scotland.

We aspire to a quality of excellence in our standard of service provision to Scotland’s Cystic Fibrosis Community.

All of our personnel are expected to maintain those standards when providing support that is focused on promoting emotional wellbeing alongside practical help to maximise income and addresses issues that include housing, benefits, education and employment.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and personable individual to join our team. They must have a positive attitude, attention to detail with a genuine passion for supporting other people and who has ambition for their own continued personal and professional development. They will have excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organisational skills, experience in managing or supervising staff or volunteers and able to work with people at all levels.

We will provide both in-house and external training to ensure all of our team have appropriate skills and knowledge to fulfil their role to the best of their ability.

The Adult Services Manager is responsible for providing a range of services to adults affected by Cystic Fibrosis, including direct support for carers and supervision of volunteer mentors who provide direct support them.

They will work in collaboration with specialist medical personnel to ensure provision of professional and integrated medical and social support services as well as liaising with Social Care Services, Local Authorities and other relevant specialist agencies, as required.

Full driving licence and a car is essential.

For this regulated work the successful candidate will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership which will be paid for by the Trust.

You’ll help people understand their bills, reduce energy costs, manage energy challenges and create warmer, healthier homes. Support will take place in the community, over the phone, and through in-home visits.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Person centred, respectful and trauma informed, able to build trust and communicate clearly
  • Confident and able to provide advice and follow-up support
  • Organised and digitally confident, with strong communication and record keeping skills
  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and removing barriers for marginalised groups
  • Able to work flexibly across different settings to meet people’s needs
  • Experience of giving energy advice would be an advantage but don’t worry if not, we will support you to complete City & Guilds Level 3 -Energy Awareness (if not already held).
  • A full driving licence and access to a car (or ability to meet the role’s travel requirements in another way) is needed.

Project Officer – Volunteer Recruitment Project

The project officer for the Volunteer Recruitment Project will help deliver this special project which is designed to recruit and welcome more volunteers into Girlguiding Scotland.

You will be a key member of the Volunteer Recruitment project team. You’ll use your knowledge and experience, and insights gathered by our Volunteer Recruitment Officers who are out and about supporting local recruitment and awareness raising activities across Scotland, to identify opportunities to create new resources, trainings and partnerships.

You’ll be involved in researching and collating information, producing reports, creating training materials and support resources, and organising events and developing training. You’ll also provide advice to volunteers about recruiting and welcoming other volunteers and signposting sources of support.

Main areas of responsibility

Support local recruitment and welcome activity

  • Using membership data and other internal and external sources, support our volunteer recruitment officers target areas for development work
  • Create a rolling quarterly calendar of opportunities (including dates of volunteer centre-run events and award programmes and Further/Higher education events) for our volunteer recruitment officers and local volunteer teams to use.

Support national recruitment and welcome activity

  • Work with other members of the Volunteer Recruitment Project team to identify where new training, good practice guidance, templates and resources could help volunteer teams respond to challenges around recruitment or welcome
  • Create resources and training materials designed to support current volunteers with recruitment and welcome
  • Support the delivery of in person and online workshops and training related to recruitment and welcome
  • Ensure the content of our national programme of online information sessions designed to welcome new volunteers, is updated to reflect changes in internal policies and procedures and ensure it remains relevant and engaging
  • Work with relevant staff and volunteer working groups to develop proposals for new projects, e.g. support research into the potential for a corporate volunteering programme

Facilitate best practice sharing

  • Share regular project updates with internal stakeholders to an agreed reporting format, allowing wider staff and volunteer teams to see how the programme of development work is progressing against targets.
  • Contribute to the promotion of the project via social media, digital communications and Girlguiding Scotland meetings and events
  • Attend relevant external events and trainings to develop your own knowledge and understanding of the sector and put this learning into practice

Monitoring and evaluation

  • Support the completion of monthly and quarterly updates demonstrating the impact of the project in local areas and across Scotland.
  • Evaluate training and resources and update or develop as required with input from relevant staff and volunteers

GNWCAB’s Board of Directors are looking for four new Directors to work alongside other board members to oversee and support our Chief Executive and our dynamic team of staff and volunteers. Later this year, we will be moving premises and we are seeking to expand our Board to support this process and our onward development. At this important point in our journey, we are seeking Directors who can bring different perspectives to help the Bureau achieve its plans for the future and provide the most relevant and accessible advice services possible.

The Board is currently made up of seven Directors, each offering a different skillset that can support the governance needs and development aims of the organisation. We welcome applications from anyone who feels passionate about our work, regardless of professional background.

The Board has identified an upcoming skills gap related to third sector fundraising and governance, and we hope to fill one of the four roles with someone who has experience of this kind. We would encourage applicants with this background to also consider joining our Finance, Risk, and Audit Committee (FRAC).

For the remaining three roles, we encourage candidates of all kinds, particularly those with strong knowledge of and connections to north west Glasgow. Most important to us is finding candidates who fit our values and our organisation. We are looking for people who are approachable, transparent, team players, positive influencers and who are willing to contribute to debate.

GNWCAB’s staff team, volunteers and clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and widening access and inclusion is central to our mission and our values. We want our Board to be representative of our local community and so would welcome approaches from people who live locally or have lived experience of issues facing our clients. We encourage applications from groups that are under-represented on charity boards, particularly people from Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic communities, as well as young and Disabled people.

We happily welcome applications from people who have not been senior volunteers or sat on a board before. GNWCAB is committed to the on-going development of our staff and volunteers and we provide opportunities for training and engagement across the organisation on a regular basis.
