The Scottish Episcopal Institute (SEI) seeks to appoint a Director of Contextual Formation. The Director of Contextual Formation oversees all elements of SEI’s dispersed, part-residential, formation-led placements and contextual training in Initial Ministerial Education (IME); teaches on all levels from certificate to master’s qualifications in the areas of ministry, missiology and pastoral/practical theology, including supervising and marking dissertations. In addition to IME, SEI provides a range of training and support for lay and ordained members of the Scottish Episcopal Church to which the Director of Contextual Formation contributes. The post is based in Edinburgh with some flexibility for home working from another location in Scotland.
Candidates applying for the post will have:
• Episcopal/Anglican holy orders;
• Demonstrable ability in theological education, curate training, knowledge of current ecclesiological trends and an entrepreneurial spirit in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition;
• Postgraduate qualification in ministry, missiology, pastoral/practical theology or a closely related field (at least to master’s level);
• Passion for theological and vocational training that equips students to foster vibrant church life through evangelism and discipleship;
• The candidate will have drive and enthusiasm, be able to work on their own initiative and possess an understanding of the missiological and theological issues of the twenty-first century in Scotland.

What you’ll need to be successful
The postholder will be the volunteering team lead on the strategic and cross-organisational approach to volunteer communications and engagement, ensuring our volunteers feel connected and committed to Victim Support Scotland and have the information and updates they need to carry out their roles. This involves acting as a source of expertise around volunteer communications and engagement and being a key enabler of engagement initiatives. For example, the postholder will keep up to date with innovative practice around volunteer engagement and retention, making recommendations to colleagues about new approaches, driving forward key programmes and projects such as Volunteers’ Week and advising and empowering colleagues and stakeholders to value and recognise volunteers. Alongside these responsibilities, the postholder will work closely with other members of the volunteering team on shared ongoing responsibilities within the team. What you’ll need to be successful
The ideal candidate will be used to working independently as well as part of a team and be able to demonstrate experience of managing a challenging workload in a busy environment to meet deadlines. The postholder will be the volunteering team lead on a people driven, strategic and cross-organisational approach to learning and development for both our volunteers and volunteer line managers. This role ensures that VSS volunteers and the staff who manage and support them have the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their roles. Acting as a source of expertise, the postholder will be up to date with current theories and practice relating to learning and development. They will drive forward key programmes such as a review of our learning and development offer for volunteers, contribute to the delivery of VSS current volunteer learning and development programme and advise and support colleagues and stakeholders around learning. Alongside these responsibilities, the postholder will work closely with other members of the volunteering team on shared ongoing responsibilities within the team. About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Practitioner, unlike other support roles, with Turning Point Scotland, no two days are the same!
You will be responsible for being the first point of contact carrying out initial assessments, building trusting relationships and ongoing keyworker support with communication an essential part of the role.
You will also be expected to work in a groupwork setting and/or provide Assertive Outreach to individual’s homes, GP practices and across multiple community settings in the North East of Edinburgh. You will be offering harm reduction advice and interventions to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk people who use drugs. These individuals may have had multiple non-fatal overdoses and are not currently engaged with treatment and or support services.
About You
As our Lead Practitioner, you will have knowledge and experience of drug and alcohol related harm. You will be working within the service delivery rota of Monday to Friday. Alongside the Service Manager and the Service Coordinator to direct and manage the day to day support within the Edinburgh Service ensuring advanced level of social care support including responsibility for service delivery and development which includes providing line management support to the staff team.
You will be passionate and committed and be creative in ways of engaging people, including home visits (alongside a colleague) offering support in the community. Making a difference to people’s lives, you will continue providing support until they are able to engage in more structured support within the hub.
