The Scottish Biometrics Commissioner is recruiting an Operations Manager to join his current small team. Reporting to the Director, the Operations Manager works in a cross-functional team with responsibility for operational activities in support of the Strategic Plan. This includes liaising with Police Scotland, the Scottish Police Authority and the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner and other stakeholders and regulatory bodies on the use of biometric data. The Operations Manager will conduct independent reviews and ensure compliance with the use of biometric data in Scotland.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management position in a policing, human-rights, criminology or criminal justice environment. However, the Commissioner would especially welcome applications from candidates with sector-specific knowledge and practical experience in the use of biometric or forensic data. You will be able to demonstrate strong analysis and decision-making skills; you will have experience of building and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels with well-developed written and oral communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the planning of file migration from network drives to the Trust’s SharePoint environment, with particular focus on records management best practice for digital records.

About the Role

You will play a vital role in the expansion and delivery of our national support line service, which offers practical, financial and emotional support to families through phone calls, webchats, advice and information on our website and in their homes and communities across Scotland.

This role plays a key role in supporting the effective day-to-day running of Children First services. The postholder provides operational, administrative and systems support to ensure services run safely, efficiently and in line with organisational requirements.

This role is central to enabling high-quality support for children, young people and families. The postholder will support the effective operation of the national Support Line by coordinating service administration across telephone, webchat and digital channels, ensuring accurate records, efficient service access and high-quality information to support performance monitoring and reporting.

The role is a 4 month fixed term contract, offered on a part-time basis of 17.5 hours per week (2.5 days). We are happy to consider flexible working patterns, although we would ideally like the hours to be spread across the week, including Monday as a working day to support key operational activities.

Advertised salary will be paid on a pro rata basis, calculated against a 35 hour full-time working week.

Travel to the Edinburgh office may be required around one day a week, with occasional travel to other CHAS locations.
