What is a Trustee?
In simple terms:Trustees are the guardians of our charity – ensuring we stay true to our mission of helping cancer patients access treatment while managing our resources responsibly and planning for sustainable growth.
The legal bit:Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it's doing what it was set up to do. They exercise their powers and duties with care, always acting in the charity's best interests, ensuring compliance with charity law and our governing document.
You'll be part of a supportive boardworking collaboratively to govern The Driving Force effectively.
Time Commitment
We respect that trustees are volunteers with busy lives. Here's what we ask:
Core Commitment:
Total time: approximately 15-20 hours per year
Flexibility:We schedule meetings with trustees' availability in mind. If you can't make a meeting, we just ask for advance notice.
Additional Involvement (Optional):Some trustees choose to get involved in specific projects, sub-committees, or events – but this is entirely voluntary.

We are focused on identifying new board members who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of people seeking asylum and a refugee background living in Scotland.
The Board of Directors is ultimately accountable for the smooth operation of the organisation, ensuring its long-term financial stability and the delivery of its charitable objectives. It needs to provide leadership, set strategic direction, exercise effective control and monitor performance. Companies House publicly lists our board members, and the Office of the Scottish Charitable Regulator lists charitable trustees.
The board meets every 6 weeks, either face-to-face, via online platforms, or as a hybrid of the two.
The duration of Board meetings is usually less than 2 hours.
All relevant papers are forwarded in advance by email and can be printed in hard copy before the meeting.
Being a trustee is a voluntary role, but Community InfoSource will cover relevant out-of-pocket travel and other expenses that would allow you to attend meetings.
All new trustees are appointed subject to a six-month probationary period

We support children, young people, adults and families, with an established specialism in access to records for people who experienced abuse while in care. The Women’s Support Project (WSP) is a national organisation based in Glasgow. We aim to raise awareness of the extent and effects of violence against women and girls (VAWG), and to support those affected by this.
The WSP adopts a feminist ethos and principles in all its activities. Key themes in our work are addressing unmet need and emerging issues, making links between different forms of violence and abuse, and supporting multiagency and partnership approaches, ensuring the root causes of male VAWG are addressed. The work of WSP bridges the gap between statutory and specialist services in their response to male VAWG.

Town Break Dementia Support is seeking an inspiring and committed individual to become the next Chair of our Board of Trustees.
For almost three and a half decades, Town Break has supported people living with dementia and their unpaid carers to remain connected, active and engaged in their communities. As we approach our 34th year, we continue to build on that legacy through relationship-based support, community activities, carer support and meaningful opportunities for connection. Action Against Stalking is seeking a committed and passionate trustee to join our small but mighty team. We are looking for an experienced individual with accountancy and charity treasury skills who can support our CEO and fellow trustees by providing strong financial oversight, sound judgement, and strategic input.
This is an important governance role with a commitment of around five hours per month, including quarterly board meetings. The successful candidate will help strengthen the charity’s financial stewardship, contribute to effective governance, and support the long-term sustainability of our work.
About Action Against Stalking
Action Against Stalking is a specialist charity that provides person-centred support to victims of stalking while also working to raise awareness, influence change, and improve understanding of stalking across Scotland. Around 70% of our work is funded through the Scottish Government’s Victim-Centred Approach Fund (VCAF), with other major donors also playing an important role in sustaining and developing our services.
Our annual report showcases the impact of our small but mighty team and the breadth of our work across education, prevention, campaigning, and direct victim support. Together, these activities help us champion the rights of victims and strengthen responses to stalking in communities, services, and systems.
