You will be capable of leading all aspects of the finance and commercial function, aligned with the organisation’s goals and objectives. You will demonstrate strong decision making and act with integrity, ensuring all financial and commercial practices are aligned with organisational values, governance standards and ethical principles. You will act as a trusted advisor across the organisation, building strong relationships and providing financial insight and commercial support to the Leadership Team and Board.

You will balance strategic leadership with hands on operational delivery, improving financial systems and processes, supporting bids and tenders, developing commercial opportunities, and driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and innovation.

You must have:

  • Experience in a senior finance or commercial leadership role, with experience of line managing a team.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Accountancy, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • A recognised professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA.
  • Strong experience of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, statutory reporting, management accounts and financial controls.
  • Experience of managing organisational financial performance and supporting long term sustainability.
  • Knowledge of financial governance, audit, compliance, risk management and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of commercial modelling, costing, pricing or profitability analysis.
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders, contracts or new business opportunities.
  • The ability to identify and support sustainable income generation and organisational growth opportunities.
  • The ability to analyse complex financial and operational data, driving insight led decisions and improvement.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders including senior leaders and Boards.
  • A collaborative and values led leadership style, with the ability to support change, growth and continuous improvement.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience of working within a charity, social enterprise or 3rd sector organisation.
  • Experience of commissioned services, grant funding or blended income models.
  • Experience of contract management, procurement or commercial partnerships.
  • A strong understanding of the mental health and wellbeing sector.

About the Role

About You

We are seeking individuals who bring:

  • Significant leadership experience at a senior level within health, social care or related systems
  • A strong understanding of health and social care integration in Scotland, including policy and operational realities
  • Proven ability to influence at national and system level, engaging effectively with government, regulators and partners
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to human rights-based, person-led care and ethical system transformation
  • Experience working with or within the independent social care sector will be advantageous.

The CEO is an ambassador for JustRight Scotland. As a strategic leader in the Human Rights sector, the CEO will represent JustRight Scotland at senior levels across civil society and government. They will build and sustain strategic relationships to influence policy and systems change, and to build the profile and reputation of the organisation in Scotland, the UK and internationally.

JustRight Scotland operates in a dual structure of SCIO and LLP, which requires collaborative governance between senior leaders to ensure alignment across these structures. The organisation operates a distributed leadership model in which the Senior Executive Team, comprising the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer and the two Legal Directors (who are also the LLP Partners), share authority and responsibility for senior leadership of the organisation. We are recruiting an experienced, innovative, collaborative and solutions-focused Director of Quality, Practice & Learning. The successful postholder will work as part of our Leadership Team contributing to SCMA’s overall policy development, strategic planning, budget preparation and control, and lead on quality, learning and practice development. This new re-focused position presents an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering our strategy, future ambitions and in shaping and influencing the development and delivery of childminding practice in Scotland.

The successful applicant will consolidate, oversee and develop our quality function and activities (provided to our membership through our services and to the wider childminding workforce through the Programme for Scotland’s Childminding Future) and contribute to the development and implementation of our CPL strategy, linked to the delivery of our wider organisational strategy.

We are looking for someone who has significant experience and understanding of quality improvement, practice development and professional learning within an early learning/childcare environment; a demonstrable track record in innovation and establishing partnerships (including securing funding); experience of working in partnership with local authorities; and has the drive and enthusiasm to work with us on the next stage of our strategic journey.

Part-time (up to 22 hrs per week) £58,117 – 62,252 pro rata, with potential progression on to £63,728 – 68,394 pro rata.

This is a permanent position. However, as a significant level of our current funding is only confirmed to 31 March 2027 due to the Scottish Parliamentary elections in May 2026, this role could also present a possible interim / secondment / acting-up opportunity. It is also possible that increased hours for this post could be offered in future. The post is home/head office based, days to be agreed, with regular attendance at our Head Office in Stirling. Purpose of the post: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and sustainability of FOSS. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the postholder will ensure high-quality service delivery, strong partnerships, effective governance, and a clear strategic direction rooted in the lived experience of newcomers and volunteers.

The CEO will provide leadership to staff and volunteers, steward organisational resources responsibly, and represent FOSS as a trusted partner and advocate within Falkirk and beyond.
