About you

You will have experience maintaining accurate financial records and completing reconciliations to audit standards. You will be confident supporting financial reporting and budgeting, and able to work effectively with colleagues across the organisation to resolve finance queries.

You will be organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities, with a flexible and collaborative approach to your work.

Experience of working with legal aid accounts or similar systems is desirable; however, full training will be provided.

The post of Business Development Manager is crucial to drive further growth in the College’s commercial activity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing income from a range of activities and identifying and successfully implementing new income streams. You will have demonstrable experience of setting and achieving growth income targets, developing successful marketing strategies, fundraising and maintaining effective external relationships. The Marketing & Events Officer is a newly introduced role responsible for acting as the first point of contact through to delivery for all College events, ensuring they are marketed, promoted, planned, managed and executed smoothly and to a consistently high standard.

The post holder will promote and market the College’s curriculum and commercial activity through effective, high quality, and engaging digital media content that aligns with and supports the College’s purpose and values. This role will also contribute to the business development and marketing strategy.

Through innovative marketing approaches and professional event management, the role contributes to student recruitment, income generation, and the continued development of the College’s reputation for excellence.

A requirement of the role is to support the delivery of events and associated commercial activities. The postholder will be expected to work outside standard business hours, including evening and weekend commitments. Working hours will therefore vary in line with operational requirements.

Specific Duties

  • Help eligible single parents to identify their future goals, assess motivation, develop personal development plans and help in their implementation through individual and group work.
  • Identify barriers to employment, education or training and work with single parents to address those barriers.
  • Build links with organisations and groups across Angus, to identify eligible single parents interested in progressing towards suitable employment, education or training.
  • Support single parents into suitable employment, to provide a continuum of consistent support on OPFS clients employability pathway journey into suitable and sustainable employment.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver a range of employability activities to enable single parents facing additional barriers to employment to develop participants core knowledge and skills, helping to increase their access to available employment, training and education opportunities.
  • Undertake activities in communities to actively reach eligible single parents as a basis to support their learning and development and engage them in early work preparation and employer matching activities to support positive change within their lives.
  • Provide job ready single parents with the help participants need with job searching, interviews, securing and sustaining suitable employment.
  • Provide single parents living with continued support on entering employment, to help parents sustain their jobs.
  • Develop knowledge of services related to employment, training, education, childcare and other support. Develop an effective network of referral agencies to support clients’ needs.
  • Signpost single parents to services that will address their needs.
  • Liaise with OPFS Financial team to offer better off calculations and access to debt support.
  • Ensure effective recording, monitoring and evaluation procedures are implemented.

As an Employment Facilitator you'll be motivating, inspiring and directly supporting and delivering a range of both practical and vocational employability programmes aimed at young people to access, maintain and sustain future employment and further educational opportunities through the provision of a comprehensive in-house training programmes and work placements.

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Managing and co-ordinating a caseload of young people, providing tailored interventions through group, coordinated or individual support.
  • Deliveringa range of group preparation for work modules that contribute to our overall employability programmes, promoting inclusion and allowing for individual learning styles.
  • Adopting a key worker approach to support young people for up to 6 months from securing employment.

NVLT is still run by volunteers with a help of one part time activities coordinator. The Board of Directors is aging and lacks time and skills to manage the range of current and potential new projects. NVLT needs to move to using a more professional skilled work force with volunteer support and the Board concentrating on community oversight. To do this more priority needs to be given to income generating projects, of which NVLT has several, to sustain NVLT long-term and reduce its reliance on grant funding which is time consuming and sporadic. We are good at obtaining grants but success is uncertain

NVLT also need to adopt better financial control with budgeting/cash flow and develop and follow a full strategic plan.
