The Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team of geographically dispersed Operations Officers to support the operational delivery and development of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) across Scotland.

Operations Officers directly support a variety of Licensed Organisations (LOs) comprising mainly of schools, but they also work with other organisations including colleges, local authorities, charities, pupil referral units, youth groups and young offender institutions. The Operations Manager role involves managing, coaching, and supporting Operations Officers to undertake their role and building strong partnerships to increase DofE’s engagement across communities in Scotland.

As a DofE country team, our focus is on building capacity within our licensed organisations to support more young people to engage with DofE and on identifying and stewarding strong partnerships within local communities to increase engagement with DofE, particularly within those communities who face barriers to participation. Line managed by the Senior Operations Manager, the Operations Manager is an active and engaged member of the Scotland Team, which is chaired by the Scotland Director. The Operations Management team is responsible for delivering on the Scotland business plan and strategic goals in line with UK wide national strategy.

The role will be field-based and when not attending meetings, employees will work from home. You will need to have an appropriate home office set up and live within or near the portfolio area.

What we are looking for:

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, proactive, and effective team player with extensive people management experience to join the Scotland team. You will report to the Senior Operations Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your Operations team and delivery of the DofE Scotland business plan. The role will also involve contributing to national working groups to support our charity wide strategic goals.

You will be a passionate advocate for the work of the DofE and be driven to realise the charity’s strategic ambition.

About the role

The National Advisory Board (NAB) maximises Barnardo's Scotland's ability to change children's lives in Scotland by providing strategic support and advice to the national executive and bringing their individual and collective skills, experience and networks to bear where opportunities present.

We are looking to add up to 3 people to our existing board with at least one new member who is aged between 18-25 and who may be in formal education, in work or training. We are committed to offering appropriate support in what may well be the first role of this type for the successful candidate(s).

Key activities

Providing targeted strategic support and advice to the national executive across the following areas in the national setting:

As a pet‑friendly service, GHH regularly supports beneficiaries who may have assistance or support animals.

About the team

GHH, based at the Pearce Institute in Govan and delivered in partnership with SSAFA and Glasgow City Council, provides trusted support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Our trauma‑informed, holistic approach offers wraparound assistance that addresses housing needs alongside wider wellbeing challenges, helping beneficiaries build resilience and sustain long‑term housing solutions.

The service operates a gateway model, giving the Armed Forces community a single point of contact for housing, financial, employability and wider support.

You’ll be part of a highly collaborative network, working closely with local and national partners such as Citizens Advice Scotland, Veterans Housing Scotland, Erskine, Scottish Veterans Residences, Defence Medical Welfare Services, Homeless Casework Teams and Homeless Network Scotland. The role also involves attending stakeholder events that may occasionally fall outside of standard office hours.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a proactive, compassionate person with a genuine interest in housing and homelessness. You’ll bring relevant experience or strong transferable skills, along with the motivation to support the Armed Forces community through complex housing challenges.

Ideally, you will hold a Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Level 2 or 3 qualification in Housing Practice or be willing to work towards it as part of your development in the role

You’ll manage a varied caseload, provide person‑centred support, and work closely with local authorities, landlords and partner agencies. Strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills are essential.

This is a community‑based role involving citywide travel, outreach work and home visits, and requires flexibility when dealing with urgent or changing needs.

About the role

We’re looking for an Accommodation Deputy Manager to join our Accommodation Team at Ciaran's House, Edinburgh.

We provide practical and emotional support to mitigate the impact of a cancer diagnosis, and support during their cancer journey via expert needs led interventions. Our Accommodation Service is a key member of the integrated Social Work Service within the Services and Impact Directorate, you will play a crucial role in providing a high quality and efficient service to children, young people and families diagnosed with cancer

We are recruiting a Deputy Accommodation Manager in Edinburgh. This role supports the accommodation service locally and across the UK. Our Deputy Accommodation Managers ensure the Home is a safe and welcoming environment for children and young people with cancer and their families. They provide an efficient and effective service in line with the organisation’s accommodation service specification.

Our organisation is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. This role is subject to an Enhanced criminal record check. If successful in application, this role requires an enhanced criminal record check to be completed ahead of starting in the role, together with comprehensive reference checks. A person cannot commence in post without these safeguards. Applicants should be aware these may take time. What will I be doing?

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Accommodation Manager in the safe and efficient management of the Accommodation site, ensuring optimal use of available resources. You will help develop, deliver, and facilitate a Community Model approach within your locality, working with Social Care teams, charity partners, and local organisations to provide comprehensive support for families. You will also support the charity’s Brand and Income Generation initiatives aligned to delivering the community model.

The Diocesan Office supports the Bishop of Edinburgh in the delivery of the priorities of the Diocese. It is accountable for the management and delivery of a range of services for the Diocese, particularly mission and ministry, governance, finance, buildings and communications.

The new role of Diocesan Office Communications & Support Officer has been created to re-align the workflows of the office and increase the efficiency of the small administrative team. There is a friendly culture of sharing and collaboration amongst the staff, along with the diocese’s commitment to both personal and professional development for all staff.
