The Harm Reduction Development Officer will work closely alongside the Harm Reduction team in Dundee and Homeless Accommodation Services in Edinburgh and Glasgow to develop Harm Reduction best practice and procedures across the organisation.

The Harm Reduction Development Officer will work with the existing staff in Hillcrest Futures’ Enhanced Injecting Equipment Provision (IEP) and Homeless Accommodation Services, alongside people with lived experience of drug and alcohol dependence to:

This is an exciting new role that will help to move forward current drug policy locally and nationally. As such you will have a wealth of knowledge and experience in drugs/alcohol and homeless policy and provision, a passion for harm reduction and drive to reduce drug related deaths.
You will be responsible for writing organisational procedures and will need excellent communication skills – both in terms of working with people and writing clear, concise procedures and guidance for staff. You will be able to engage and communicate with people with lived experience, their families, our workforce, external delivery partners and strategic partners.
This work is at the forefront of innovation in harm reduction practice and you will be able to interpret emerging research and legislative frameworks and develop this into front line service delivery.
Please note this role is based at our South Ward Road office in Dundee however there will be regular travel to Edinburgh and Glasgow required.

Our Service

Our Priory Outreach service provides housing support and care at home for people with complex drug and alcohol issues who may also have other difficulties including; challenging behaviour, forensic needs, mental health difficulties, cognitive impairment and a physical disability.
The service provides practical support to people to maintain their tenancy and provide a safe and secure environment. The service also provides support to help people participate in social activities and access resources in the community relevant to their care and support needs.
We have part time, permanent hours available within the service.
We also have a 30 hour Maternity cover post available within the service. (Nine months or until post holder returns).

Our Services provide care and support twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, within our three temporary supported accommodation services located across Edinburgh.
We support both male and female individuals who are homeless, and have a variety of support needs, including substance misuse and mental health.
The Role:
As a Support Worker you will:
· Move individuals on from the projects and resettle them in the community in a permanent housing option suited to their needs;
· Build supportive relationships with individuals and external parties to tackle the issues that led to homelessness and support them to live an independent life in a new home;
· Provide support to individuals to enable them to achieve their goals and work on the areas of their lives that they want to change and, or learn or re-learn skills.
You Will:
· Be confident in dealing with a homeless client group and have compassion and understanding for the issues homeless people face;
· Have good timekeeping, time-management and organisational skills;
· Work to a rota that involves backshifts and weekend working;
· Hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or have the ability and willingness to undertake study to achieve this;
· Be required to obtain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within six months of taking up the post.
As a Support Worker you will:
• Be required to develop and maintain open and honest working relationships with the individuals who you are supporting;
• Provide support to individuals to enable them to achieve their goals and work on the areas of their lives that they want to change and, or learn or re-learn skills;
• Provide support in order to assist individuals to find permanent move on accommodation;
• Support individuals in the service and in their own homes. Where assessed as required, we can offer individuals some support as they move from the accommodation into their own homes.

• Be required to take part in the on call rota and work evenings and weekends as required;

The Service
We are looking to recruit a Project Worker to join our Alcohol and Drugs Community Recovery Service. Tayside Community Recovery Service provides one-to-one and group support to individuals and families affected by drug and alcohol addiction.
The Role
The role of Project Worker will include:
• Providing one-to-one support and motivation for people to make positive changes in their lives and support their recovery from drug and alcohol dependence.
• Working closely with those in recovery to develop activities and initiatives that support people to be active in their local community and build new skills to move on with their lives.
• Providing support to reduce the impact of drug and alcohol addiction on individuals, families and the wider community.
• Using an asset based approach to support people to make positive changes to improve their wellbeing.
You Will
• Have experience of working with people on a one-to-one basis as well as experience in designing and facilitating groups.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies to support an individual.
• Be self-motivated and able to work under your own initiative in community settings.
• Be educated to SCQF Level 7 SVQ3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care;
• Have a full driving licence and have the use of your own vehicle

The Service
Based in Edinburgh, the work will involve developing harm reduction initiatives within our homeless accommodation services in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Arbroath. This will include overdose awareness, distribution of naloxone, access to Injecting Equipment Provision and recruiting and supporting Peer Navigators who will work in the services sharing their own lived experience to support people with their recovery.

The Asset Management Team is part of the Property Department and works across all property owning companies within Hillcrest. The Team deals with property management and maintenance issues to ensure that properties are well maintained and in accordance with relevant property legislation.

As Asset Management Officer, you will:
Lead on several key tasks within the team’s workload and ensure that works are completed with a clear and consistent approach to delivering great service to our customers.
Ensure that compliance is met against all relevant legislation and regulations within their remit.
You Will
• Have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills;
• Have proven experience of working in property maintenance and property factoring role;
• Be a proven self-starter, with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure;
• Work co-operatively and collaborate with colleagues from all teams, to successfully deliver services and outcomes
• Be qualified to SCQF Level 7 or working towards a qualification in a Technical subject (such as Construction or Property Maintenance), Facility Management, Housing or Factoring Management
