Reporting Relationship
The Fundraising Manager reports to the Director of Operations
Overall Purpose
To lead on the raising and developing of funds to enable the work of Edinburgh City Mission.
Hours of Employment
35 hours a week, majority office based at Washington Lane, Dalry.
Open to some flexibility on hours and location but no less than 30 hours/ wk.
Salary:£30,000/ year

Job Details:
Line management:
- Line management of the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer
- Oversee, guide and assist the
Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer as they develop and lead on individual, community and corporate
fundraising initiatives.
- Identify and undertake relevant training for the Fundraising Team
General Fundraising and Development:
- Set goals, targets & deadlines for the department.
- Oversee departmental budget.
- Create and
develop the organisational fundraising strategy.
- Research and suggest systems that will help with
fundraising.
- Lead on development and implementation of an organizational CRM.
- Work alongside
Mission Strengtheners to identify story-telling opportunities that can be shared with a range of current and
potential donors.
- Continually develop and update a compelling case for support.
- Communicate with
the wider team, encouraging them to act as fundraising ambassadors for the organization under the mindset that
we are all fundraisers.
Trusts and Grants:
- Develop and manage a pipeline of trust and foundations by researching, identifying, and prioritising appropriate
funders.
- Maintain our database of existing Trusts, Foundations and special funds.
- Create high
quality applications, proposals and funding bids on behalf of Edinburgh City Mission
- Liaise directly
with Trusts, Foundations and special funds, managing current relationships with grant-making bodies and
pro-actively developing relationships with prospective funders.
- Monitor outcomes and deliver on
reporting requirements
- Keep an up-to-date and accurate record of grants from Trusts, Foundations and
special funds.
- Schedule future applications according to the requirements of Trusts, Foundations,
etc.
- Work with Finance to track funds and note and restricted income.
- Delegate smaller trusts
and grant work to the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer as required.
Events:
- Develop and deliver annual thanksgiving event.
- Create and deliver any other future fundraising events
for Edinburgh City Mission.
- Attend at least four City Vision prayer meetings a year, to share and pray
with supporters.
Churches:
- Oversee and develop work with wider team to develop a church giving strategy
Legacy:
- Oversee and develop work with wider team to develop a legacy strategy
Impact Report:
- Assist the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer on all areas of impact report creation alongside the Impact
Team including:
- Develop material to communicate with the team on the purpose and basis of our data
gathering.
- Onboard new staff members on the purpose of data collection and reporting and share Edinburgh
City Mission’s processes.
- Work with Mission Strengtheners to develop a theory of change and data
collection processes that will suit their ministry, meeting with them to create changes when
needed
- Laise with volunteers who assist with data input and analysis.
- Encourage staff members in
their data collection and analysis throughout the year.
- Work with the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy
Officer and Communications Manager to create, write, edit and distribute the final Impact Report.
- Work
alongside all members of staff and trustees to attain their contributions and feedback on the impact
report.
- Facilitate the collection of stories from our guests, staff and partners for the impact
report.
Changes to the above may be made by your Line Manager, with prior notice, in discussion with you.

- Proven track record in fundraising or a
similar role
- Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills

- Reliable, well-organised and able to prioritise well
- Experience
of preparing funding applications to Trusts and
- Foundations
- Experience of creating and
delivering fundraising events
- Ability to nurture strong relationships and influence

- Ability to set and work to goals without immediate supervision
- Excellent presentation
skills
- Excellent IT skills - particularly Excel, MS Office and databases
- Active involvement in a
local church and City Mission team life
Desirable
- Experience of leading a Fundraising Team
- Experience of engaging with churches in a fundraising capacity
- Experience of stewarding and growing legacy donations
- Experience with CRM software
- Previous line management experience, with the ability to encourage and equip individuals
- Ability to create data gathering methods and interpret results
