Manor Estates was established in 1995 following the transfer of over 900 houses in Edinburgh from Scottish Homes. Since then we have built and acquired a number of new houses across the City. We are a charitable Housing Association and our aim is to provide good quality housing and services which help improve people’s lives and their local communities.

Housing Assistant

Manor Estates Housing Association is seeking to recruit a full-time Housing Assistant to join our busy Housing Management Team.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate

- Excellent administrative skills

- Skills in the standard office ICT packages, specifically Word and Excel

- Excellent telephone and face-to-face customer engagement skills

- Previous experience and/or the ability to learn (with appropriate training) the operation of our housing management software system

- Previous experience of working in a social housing environment

- A willingness to work as part of a small team

- The desire to ‘make a difference’ to our organisation

Previous experience of working in a housing environment is desirable.

The starting salary for this post is £27,440 (pay award pending). Key terms and conditions are noted below:

- 25 days annual leave

- 15 days public holidays

Housing Officer

A vacancy has arisen for a Housing Officer within our Housing Management Team based at New Mart Place.

The post holder will report to the Housing Manager and will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:

  • Manage the Association’s social and mid-market rent tenancies
  • Provide neighbourhood estate management services
  • Contribute to local initiatives and partnerships
  • Deal with management of current and former rent arrears to maximise income
  • Manage cases of anti-social behaviour
  • Tenancy sustainment
  • Work in partnership with internal and external agencies
  • Work with tenants and other customers to encourage participation in the Association’s work and community activities.

We need people who will collaborate with others to provide insight and strategic direction - and make sure that we continue to provide good quality housing and services which help improve people’s lives and the well-being of local communities.

We are particularly interested to hear from people with skills, knowledge, or experience in:

  • Accountancy (preferably a qualified accountant with experience of RSLs)
  • Housing Management
  • Asset Management
  • Procurement
  • ICT
  • Community Engagement
  • Third Sector experience.

We want to attract people who have a positive attitude, who are passionate about fairness and interested in housing. Previous board experience is beneficial but not essential as we offer a comprehensive induction and training programme. You will also be given opportunities to attend external conferences and events. Our Chair also carries out annual reviews with all Board members to make sure we are offering appropriate levels of support.

The positions on our Board are voluntary but we pay reasonable out of pocket expenses including transport and childcare costs.

We are particularly interested in ensuring that our Board is diverse and representative of the communities that we serve.

The Association and its subsidiary currently own and manage over 1000 social and 95 mid–market rent properties, as well as providing factoring services to 1700 owners operating throughout Edinburgh. We also have a small number of properties in Fife.

Manor Estates Housing Association is looking to recruit a full-time Housing Management Director to join our team. We want to find someone that shares our values and wants to make a positive difference.

The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality housing management services including leading on allocations, income maximisation, antisocial-behaviour, tenancy sustainment and customer engagement.

They will lead the Housing Management Team and be an active participant within the Senior Management Team of the Association.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

Retirement Housing Manager

A vacancy has arisen for a part time Retirement Housing Manager within our Housing Management Team. Based at one of our Retirement Housing developments. Hours of work are 9am to 12pm, Monday to Friday (hours to be agreed).

The post holder will be report to the Housing Officer who manages the Retirement Housing developments and, will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:

- Managing the site including Health & Safety and Fire safety inspections;

- Responding to property related calls and supporting the Housing Officers and Technical Inspectors;

- Visiting new and existing tenants on an ongoing rolling programme to provide advice and assistance on tenancy related issues;

- Promoting use of the community facilities and facilitating events within the community.

A vacancy has arisen within our busy Property Services team for a part time Property Services Administrator - Factoring. Reporting to the Property Services Manager, and as part of a team of 11, you will be responsible for

providing a high quality administration service to customers in the delivery of an effective Property Services function, assisting in the delivery of innovative and effective Factoring Services ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practice. You will provide excellent customer service and act as a first point of contact in respect of all Factoring enquiries. You will prepare information, letters and reports for both the Factoring Coordinator and your team manager.
