Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that every individual we support receives the highest quality of care and guidance.

The Role

Your role in our therapeutic community will be key. You will organise and facilitate the evening running of the Therapeutic Community programme at Rae House Residential Service. You will co-ordinate the service users’ tasks and activities. You will provide waking night cover, ensuring that risk is monitored and minimised. You will organise and facilitate the residents in preparing for the daily programme and activities. You will monitor and administer medication to service users.

Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Night Care Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to our residents.

This is a part-time role of 26 hours per week on average. You will be expected to work a rolling rota which includes 10hrs shifts including weekends.

As a Therapeutic Worker, you will support individuals accessing the residential rehabilitation programme to achieve outcomes that help create long-term recovery. Using the Therapeutic Community “community as method” model you will empower individuals, families and communities to be confident about recovery.

You will support the day to day running of the therapeutic community, ensuring residents’ needs are met and the best possible care is provided in an environment that promotes a culture of recovery. Whilst also being confident to deliver therapeutic groups, activities, and specialist interventions in accordance with the TC manual and the needs of the service.

The Role

To provide administrative support within a specified residential service, particularly in relation to finance transactions, customer relations and data management. In addition, to cover the administration, oversee the referral and admissions processes and to provide secretarial and other support to the managers and other members of the total staff team.

The Service

Phoenix Futures’ Scottish Residential Service offers a drug and alcohol free environment with structured support for people 18 years of age or over who are looking to address their problematic drug and/or alcohol use and improve their mental health. We have been successfully supporting people to achieve long term recovery for more than 30 years in Scotland and for over 50 years across the wider UK. We offer programmes of both 3 and 6 months in length based on the need of the individual. The spacious service provides for 31 residents who are supported through the evidence-based Therapeutic Community model. The service is based in a modern, newly refurbished centre, with excellent links to the city centre and a wide range of off-site activities available through our network of partnerships.

About You

You will have experience of working with people with multiple needs including addiction and have a working knowledge of residential rehabilitation and strengthening recovery capital. Having experience in working with multiple stakeholders and nurturing relationships you will be able to confidently provide guidance to individuals, families and stakeholders in relation to accessing and developing residential rehabilitation pathways into the service.

You will ensure clients feel supported from the point of referral through to their admission to the residential service; offering responsive support to both the individual and their family members. Completing robust assessments and delivering one-to-one and /or group interventions designed to prepare individuals for a rehab stay. You will also meet individuals on their day of admission and offer support post-admission, ensuring they are welcomed in to the therapeutic community welcome house programme according to their individualised needs. You will be positive, innovative and motivational with the ability to work to your own initiative, as well as part of a large multi-disciplinary team.

We have a brand new role to support access into residential treatment for substance misuse across Scotland.

Following the Scottish Government National Drugs Mission and associated funding our Care Inspectorate Registered Residential Care Services have grown significantly in Scotland. As such we have a brand new role to support access into residential treatment for substance misuse across Scotland – Customer Engagement Manager – Scotland.

Our Glasgow based residential service is well established and has been open for over 30 years. In 2022, we opened Scotland’s first national specialist family service (Harper House) providing opportunity for mums and or dads to access residential treatment whilst remaining the primary carer for their children. This year we are opening another facility in West Aberdeenshire (Rae House) with a day service and housing provision in the City to further support access to residential support.

The role

As Customer Engagement Manager for Scotland you will play a pivotal role in the establishment of pathways into our new service as well as building and maintaining relationships/pathways into our existing provision.

As the largest provider of residential treatment services in the UK you'll be supported by a charitable organisation with extensive experience in launching and managing top-tier registered care services.

You will be supported and guided by the Head of Residential Access and Placements and have peer support through the Customer Engagement Manager – England. In addition, you will work closely with the Scottish Residential Managers and admissions teams to ensure seamless access to our services and developing the customer experience from referral through to admission and beyond.

Opening in Winter 2024, we are seeking an exceptional individual to be part of our team at our brand new Care Inspectorate registered residential rehabilitation service in West Aberdeenshire. You'll be supported by a charitable organisation with extensive experience in launching and managing top-tier registered care services.

Aligned with our vision of empowering individuals impacted by substance use and associated needs, we're collaborating with national and local partners to deliver safe and effective residential care services. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that every individual we support receives the highest quality of care and guidance.

As a Trainee Recovery Worker, you will support the team to support individuals accessing the residential rehabilitation programme to achieve outcomes that help create long-term recovery. Using the Therapeutic Community “community as method” model you will empower individuals, families and communities to be confident about recovery.

You will support the day to day running of the therapeutic community, ensuring residents’ needs are met and the best possible care is provided in an environment that promotes a culture of recovery.

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work a rolling rota which includes evening and weekend working.

About You

To join us as a Trainee Recovery Worker at Rae House, you will need:


  • Have an understanding of the complex issues presented by individuals within drug and alcohol recovery.
  • An understanding of working with individuals in the substance use sector or related field.
  • Be willing to undertake an approved SVQ in Health and Social Care.
  • Be willing to attend and participate fully in Phoenix-run workshops and training sessions agreed as part of the SVQ programme and Phoenix induction programme
  • To work within the team responsible for the implementation, development and evaluation of the core therapeutic programme.
  • To assist in the delivery of core groups, designed to appropriately support individuals to engage in the Primary and Senior stage of the programme.
  • To help develop and run a range of therapeutic approaches designed to address the individuals’ emotional, social, health and practical needs.
  • To liaise and correspond with all necessary internal and external people in relation to progression of the individual through the programme.
