Volunteer Coordinator

We are recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator to develop our Adult Mentoring programme. This is a newly created role and the post-holder will coordinate and oversee the effective delivery of a community-based adult mentoring service for people we support within Right There programmes.

The Volunteer Coordinator will have responsibility for engagement, recruitment, training and day-to-day supervision of volunteer mentors and the ongoing support of mentee and mentor matches and liaison.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Volunteer Management including recruitment, training and regular support and reflection with volunteer mentors
  • Confidently manage and coordinate positive, respectful and compassionate relationships between mentor and mentee, ensuring good boundaries
  • Build upon existing relationships with Social Work, Third Sector and other professionals and strengthening these relationships
  • Liaise with referral sources regarding new and existing mentoring referrals
  • Attend multi-agency meetings as required advocating on behalf of the people we support
  • Ensure that adequate safeguarding measures are in place for both mentors and mentees and participation in on-call rota system as required
  • Contribute towards the design, development delivery and evaluation of our programmes, ensuring we are adopting a co-produced approach where possible
  • Ensure accurate and factual record keeping at all times by ensuring support plans are completed and updated in accordance with GDPR and confidentiality processes
  • Ensure risk assessments are updated for the people we support

We’re looking for a skilled leader who has gained experience of volunteer and/or staff management, you will also have practical knowledge of adult safeguarding practices and trauma informed approaches. You will have gained experience of supporting adults with complex needs who have faced homelessness and you will also have knowledge of relevant legislation and policies relating to vulnerable adults.

A full driving license and access to a car for work purposes is an essential requirement together with insurance that covers both domestic and business use.

What you can expect from us

  • Your normal working hours are 35 per week worked Monday to Friday and flexibly between the hours of 8am and 6pm depending on the needs of the service, with 1-hour unpaid break. Weekend and evening work will be required occasionally to meet the needs of people we support.
  • Your usual place of work is 15 Dava Street, Glasgow, G51 2JA. You are also required to work in the local community and you will be paid travel expenses from your usual place of work for appointments undertaken in the course of your duties. Home working is available in agreement with the line manager, based on the needs of the service.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 210 hours (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata per year in the first year rising to 280 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata per year in the second.
  • You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension in the month that you will complete 3-months of employment, provided you meet the auto-enrolment criteria

Due to internal promotion we are recruiting for a Risk and Quality Assurance Manager to join our Strategic Initiatives and Governance team. (SIG).

Reporting to the Head of SIG, the Risk and QA Manager will ensure timely risk management of organisational activities, including identifying risks, seeking decisions and/or recommending actions, to ensure outcomes are achieved. The post holder will also ensure effective internal audit and evaluation of the quality and regulatory compliance of all programme and central service functions.

It is expected that the role will be 3 days office based.

We are Right There, a charity celebrating our 200th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.

Last year we supported almost 4,000 individuals, helping to prevent them from becoming homeless or separated from the people they love. Every person’s story is unique, and everyone’s route home is different - it doesn’t matter what the situation is – we’re not here to judge, only to help.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

Develop and Implement Quality Assurance Strategies

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve Right There’s Quality framework ensuring they are efficient, true to our Values and aligned to our vision and strategic aims
  • Formulate, implement, and manage the overall quality assurance strategy to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Define and implement quality standards and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality assurance into the development and operational processes

Risk Management

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve Right There’s Risk Management frameworks ensuring they are efficient, true to our Values and aligned to our vision and strategic aims
  • Identify, assess, and prioritise risks associated with organisational processes, projects, and operations
  • Develop and implement risk management plans, including mitigation strategies and contingency plans
  • Regularly monitor and report on the status of identified risks to key stakeholders
  • Support risk owners to actively identify, assess and capture key risks

Internal Audit

  • Perform assurance reviews of key risk areas and provide internal audit assurance in line with principles of good governance, all regulatory bodies, and care inspectorate standards
  • Support risk owners to actively identify, assess and capture key risks

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work closely with managers at all levels across the organisation and other stakeholders to integrate risk management and quality assurance into annual plans
  • Provide guidance on risk and quality considerations during the development and implementation of new processes, programmes or projects

Documentation and reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to risk assessments, quality standards, and mitigation plans
  • Lead, advise and monitor organisational policies, protocols and guidelines, quality improvement initiatives, risk management and accreditation cycles and processes

Training and Education

  • Work with the People team to develop and deliver training programmes to enhance the understanding of risk and quality principles across the organisation
  • Foster a culture of accountability and responsibility regarding risk and quality among team members

We’re looking for someone that can demonstrate relevant work experience gained in risk management and quality assurance roles, coupled with familiarity with relevant sector regulations and standards, including Care Inspectorate.
