We provide support in the following areas: • Learning disabilities • Mental health • Autism As well as: • Young careleavers • Older people • Temporary Accommodation Our staff are qualified and trained practitioners who help people to make informed choices about their personalised, flexible and quality support service. We're led by a senior management team based in Hays Business Centre in Craigmillar in Edinburgh. We're governed by an active, experienced voluntary board. Members have a range of experience including finance, property development, psychology, older people's strategy, homelessness and health.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape and drive our Services and Development Strategy, Business Plan, and Performance Management Framework. You’ll ensure our teams are aligned with our organisational goals and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Safeguarding: Lead our safeguarding efforts by ensuring policies and procedures are compliant, effective, and regularly updated. You’ll create a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, ensuring that staff and volunteers are trained and supported to act appropriately.
  • Service Delivery: Lead the development of a service delivery strategy that drives meaningful change, ensuring our services positively impact the lives of those we support and align with our vision for a stronger, more compassionate social care system. Ensure services are responsive to the needs of the people we support and that they are realistic, measurable, and regularly reviewed. You will oversee the management of budgets and resources to ensure financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Business Development: Take ownership of our Business Development strategy, championing new funding and service delivery opportunities. Lead on bid management, ensuring high-quality tender submissions and proposals, and work closely with the Head of Developments to manage contracts and secure long-term sustainability for the organisation.
  • Partnership Working: Build and maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Representing the organisation at various levels, you will enhance its profile, collaborate on joint initiatives, and ensure stakeholder feedback informs service delivery.
  • Practice & Quality: Ensure the organisation meets the highest standards of practice, with effective quality assurance systems in place. You’ll oversee data collection and analysis to monitor service impact and drive improvements. You’ll be responsible for compliance across all areas, including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
  • Strategic Planning & Organisational Leadership: You’ll help shape the strategic direction of the Organisation. You’ll lead with compassion, collaboration, and accountability, fostering a culture aligned with our core values. You’ll also promote a learning environment by prioritising continuous professional development, ensuring teams are supported in learning and reflection.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Actively participate in the Senior Leadership Team to support the organisation’s objectives and aims. You will provide strategic leadership to the teams, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements. You will lead the Corporate Strategy, Business Plan, and Performance Management Framework.
  • Financial Management: Ensure efficient financial operations, overseeing budget preparation, treasury management, and long-term financial planning to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
  • ICT Function: Develop and coordinate an ongoing ICT strategy that maintains the integrity and security of our network, along with effective disaster recovery plans.
  • Shared Services: Ensure GDPR compliance as the Data Protection Officer. Oversee procurement processes to ensure value for money and take strategic responsibility for Health and Safety. You will also be responsible for maintaining and regularly reviewing business continuity plans.
  • Governance & Assurance: Serve as Company Secretary and lead the organisation’s approach to quality improvement and management, establishing a robust quality assurance framework and timely management information infrastructure.
  • Partnership Working: Proactively engage with partnership working to enhance our reputation, representing the organisation in the community, and leading suppliers and outsourced providers in delivering high quality services
  • Human Resources: Develop and implement people strategies that align with our values and ensure compliance with employment law. Lead talent identification and recruitment strategies while managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Strategic Planning & Organisational Leadership: Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation, fostering a culture of collaboration, compassion respect, and accountability. About you

We are looking for a strategic leader with a proven ability to drive transformation across key corporate functions, who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Essential qualifications:

  • A relevant degree (at least SCQF level 10 or above) or equivalent professional qualification in HR, Finance, ICT or Business Management
  • A recognised management qualification (SCQF level 10 or higher) or evidence of substantial management training and development that is in line with the learning outcomes of a management qualification.

Essential experience:

  • Significant experience of leading and managing a range of corporate services functions at a senior level, preferably in the social care or charity sector
  • Experience of leading and managing change and innovation, using recognised change management methodologies, within a complex environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current employment law and best practice in HR management, learning and development, and employee engagement
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective HR, EDI, and workforce strategies, policies and procedures that support organisational objectives and culture
  • Extensive experience of overseeing the delivery of ICT, digital transformation, marketing and communications projects and services
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and ensure value for money
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and inspire others at all levels
  • Evidence of strategic thinking and planning, with the ability to translate vision into action
  • A robust knowledge of risk management approaches and leading on strategic risk management.
  • Experience of working collaboratively and constructively with internal and external stakeholders, including Board members, regulators, funders, and partners

Desirable qualifications:

  • A postgraduate qualification (SCQF level 11 or above) in a relevant field
  • A professional membership of a recognised body such as CIPD, CIMA, BCS, CMI, ICAS

Service Manager Tenancy & Housing Support

This is a new role created to support the development of our Tenancy Support and Housing Support / Housing First provision in Midlothian. You will work alongside our two existing Service Managers in Midlothian (Homelessness Accommodation and Learning Disability and Neurodiversity) to ensure we meet the needs of the community of Midlothian, and develop and sustain meaningful, impactful relationships with our commissioners and wider stakeholders.

This is a critical role that is responsible for leading a team that works to ensure that hundreds of Midlothian residents are able to avoid homelessness, by providing pro-active and preventative tenancy support activities that maintain tenancies. The team also works to Housing First principles, providing an elastic tolerance and relationship based approach to working with individuals with complex and multi-faceted needs.

You will lead a dynamic team of staff and will work with colleagues in Business Development and Corporate Services to support the on-going development and innovation of the service, with the longer term aim to grow the service outside of the Midlothian area. This is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to bring their existing experience of leading and managing Housing Support services and who would like to develop their career further.
