Are you a strategic leader passionate about supporting Stirling’s third sector? We are seeking a Chair of the Board to guide Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE) and help shape a thriving network of charities, social enterprises, and community organisations.

SVE is the partnership and development agency for the third sector in Stirling. As the local Third Sector Interface (TSI), we support and empower charities, social enterprises, and volunteer-led groups to create lasting social impact.

About the Role

As Chair, you will provide strategic leadership and ensure that the Board operates effectively in alignment with SVE’s purpose, vision, and values. Key responsibilities include:

  • Governance & Strategy – Oversee the Board’s strategic direction, ensuring strong governance, accountability, and financial sustainability.
  • Leadership & Collaboration – Support and guide the CEO while respecting the distinction between governance and operational management.
  • Board Effectiveness – Foster an inclusive and collaborative Board environment, ensuring all Trustees contribute effectively to decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Act as an ambassador for SVE, representing the organisation to key stakeholders, funders, and partners.
  • Risk & Performance Management – Ensure that risks are managed appropriately and that performance is measured against strategic objectives.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an experienced leader with:

  • A strong background in governance, strategic leadership, or Board management.
  • Experience in financial oversight and risk management.
  • A commitment to SVE’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
