About the service

‘Meeting new people. Seeing new places. Doing new things.' That's what our Lisalanna Short Breaks services are all about! They're an opportunity for disabled children and young people to have fun, gain independence, learn and develop while families get to take a much needed break.

As one of our Residential Support Worker's, your role will involve providing encouragement and support to young people, aged 5 to 21, in order to help them reach their full potential and achieve their goals. You'll be responsible for assessing their needs, setting goals, and regularly reviewing and evaluating their progress. By creating a fun, safe, and stimulating environment, you'll contribute to their overall development and well-being.

You'll plan and take part in activities based at the service as well as out in the community such as trips to the local shops, parks, cinema, soft play, youth club, beach, swimming and various others. You'll also provide support with day to day routines, life skills, attend to personal care and administer medication following the appropriate training.

About the service

Our Gilmerton Road Project provides short breaks and outreach support for children and young people (aged 5-21) with learning disabilities and we're excited to offer a unique opportunity for experienced Residential Support Worker's to join our dedicated team.

As a Residential Support Worker, you'll play a pivotal role in empowering children and young people to explore their world, build connections, and create lasting memories by;

Facilitating Short Breaks: As part of a highly skilled team of practitioners, you'll welcome the young people we support to make the most of their short breaks, developing new skills, socialising, and gaining independence while they are in our care.

Community Engagement: You'll also spend time out and about, supporting our children to access local communities. Whether it's a trip to the beach, an afternoon at the zoo, or playtime in the park, you'll be there to facilitate enriching experiences.

We also work in partnership with CAMHS ID and our own Behaviour Consultant to develop and deliver person centred support plans that offer consistency and clear outcomes for all our young people.

About the service

At Woodburn, we understand how important it is to replicate a warm home environment for young people. We provide full-time care and support for two young people with learning disabilities who at times present behaviour that challenges and are unable to live with their own families. We focus on building meaningful relationships with children and young people and being able to support them achieving outcomes and gaining new skills and independence(whether that's making their own toast or independently accessing the community).

You’ll care for our young people by assisting with their daily routines, providing personal care, and administering medication after appropriate training. You’ll collaborate with the team to create and implement individualised plans tailored to each young person’s needs.

Additionally, you’ll engage our young people in activities they enjoy, such as arts and crafts, puzzles, X-Box, walks, swimming, and more!

We firmly believe that behaviour is communication and work to identify what the young people are trying to tell us through their behaviour and support them to communicate that in a positive way.

We're seeking a dedicated Practitioner to provide targeted intervention to children and young people, fostering their potential and aiding them in overcoming personal barriers. The goal is to empower positive lifestyle choices by collaborating within various community settings. Working closely with families is paramount, as we strive to strengthen relationships and address vulnerabilities.

Some key responsibilities of a Young Persons Practitioner role are;

• Leading interventions, ensuring positive outcomes, in line with policies and regulations.
• Supporting children and young people to re-engage in education and employment.
• Managing a caseload within the Services.

• Attending meetings as required, including presenting cases at monthly meetings.

Action for Children's Intervention Service is a voluntary service designed to improve the outcomes for the most vulnerable, dis-enfranchised children and young people aged 11-18 years who are involved in the criminal justice system and believed to be the victims of criminal exploitation.

The Intervention Service forms partnership with Glasgow Health, Social Care and Police Scotland as part of a multi-agency partnership strategy to intervene in a child or young person's life as early as possible to prevent the likelihood or impact of criminal exploitation.

The aim of the project is to identify and divert children and young people at risk of involvement in serious offending and criminal activity at the earliest opportunity. Offering suitable support and diversion opportunities to those identified as potentially being exploited or coerced to engage in criminal activity as an alternative pathway. Providing intensive 1:1 support to help equip the child or young person with the necessary skills and tools to make positive choices and to re-engage and sustain education, training, or employment.

We provide focused intervention work to allow the child or young person to maximise their true potential and to help them overcome personal and practical barriers that prevent them from making positive lifestyle choices. It is imperative we work alongside the family to provide support and address vulnerabilities to strengthen family relationships.
