Children 1st is Scotland's National Children's Charity. We help Scotland's families to put children first, with practical advice and with support in difficult times. And when the worst happens, we support survivors of abuse, neglect, and other traumatic events in childhood, to recover.

Project Worker - Midlothian

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in Midlothian which is expanding as a result of successful new funding in the areas of mental health and kinship care. You will join an existing team working with families with experience of parental substance use, trauma, poverty and poor mental health, amongst other factors.

We work alongside children and their families, offering individual and whole family supports, peer led groups and connection through community partners. This is an exciting yet demanding role which will require you to get alongside children and their families where, when and how best suits them, offering the right support at the right time.

If you have a professional qualification in a relevant area such as Social Work, Health, Teaching or equivalent in Child Care/Social Care or related area, accredited counselling qualification, or other relevant qualification at SCQF level 9 or higher then we want to hear from you. Base

You will be based in our Dalkeith office and will work with families across Midlothian. There will be some flexibility to work at home when this suits the needs of families and/or the service .

Salary, Conditions, Pension

We will offer you a competitive salary, generous annual leave entitlement (40 days inclusive of 9 public holidays), flexible working opportunities and a contributory pension scheme.

We have two posts available:

One fixed term 35 hour post funded initially for 12 months initially (with possibility of extension) and one fixed term 17.5 hour post funded initially until 31 March 2025 (with possibility of extension).

hours to be worked flexibly across the week to meet the needs of families and the service. However, Thursdays are our ‘core day’ when essential service activities take place such as team meetings.

We are also determined that the full incorporation of the UNCRC means that children will have their rights respected in all areas of their lives and will have a real say in the way they are supported. Children 1st Family Wellbeing Service in Aberdeen City is fully aligned to Fit Like? Aberdeen providing whole family support to families aiming to be the right support at the right time.

An opportunity has arisen for an Executive Assistant to join our team supporting 3 Directorates within Children 1st.

This role will provide confidential, high quality administrative support, to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services in their work, with support also being provided to the Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications and the Director of People & Culture. The post holder will work effectively as part of a wider administrative support team to provide continuity and consistent support across Children 1st.

The role will involve collaborating with colleagues across the organisation, taking the time to build relationships and understand the needs of the organisation.

You join us at an exciting time as we continue to play our part in helping Scotland's children and families as we enter the post-covid world and navigate a cost-of-living crisis. We are a dynamic charity focussed on leading transformational change for children so that they stay safe, happy and well in their own families and communities.

The main duties and responsibilities include:

• Delivering comprehensive, confidential high quality administrative support to the Directorates.

• Working effectively as part of the wider administration team consisting of Executive Assistants and Admin Support Managers to provide continuity and consistent support for Senior Management when required.

• Collaborating on a regular basis with the Directors keeping them well informed of and prepared for upcoming commitments and responsibilities and following up appropriately.

• Communicating effectively with the Directors to prioritise and manage workload accordingly.

To be considered for this opportunity you must be/have:

• Qualified to SCQF Level 6 or equivalent in Business or Administration or significant proven administrative experience.

• Excellent ICT skills (MS 365 applications).

• Carried out a similar role.

• Experience of electronic and paper-based records/file management.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
