About the Role – Support Worker

We are currently recruiting for support workers/playworkers to work in our Summer Holiday Hub service for children and young people with additional support needs based in Edinburgh. The role includes providing fun, meaningful activities such as baking, arts and crafts, games, sports, trips in the community and outdoor play to support young people to have lots of fun!

Hours of work

We have a flexible approach to the shifts you work, working hours are between 8.30am – 3.30pm, Monday - Thursday during the School Summer Holidays in July and August. As a relief member of staff you can choose the shifts you wish to work!

What you need to know

You may be required to provide personal care for young people and must complete Child Protection and Emergency First Aid training within your initial 6-month probationary period which will be provided by Capability Scotland. If you are a qualified childcare practitioner (SVQ3/HNC Childcare qualification) this is extremely desirable however not essential, Capability Scotland will provide mandatory training and can support you to complete an SVQ level qualification in relation to the role!

Location: Edinburgh.

Youthzone - Relief SW

Youthzone provides playful, fun and engaging weekend respite sessions for disabled young people aged between 10-16 years old. The aim of the service is to support the young people to develop their self-help skills and social skills as well as building a social/peer group whilst giving their parents some weekend respite. The young people can participate in a range of activities including arts and crafts, cooking, trampolining, puzzles, basketball, outings and many more. Activities are based on young people’s interests and the young people are encouraged to let us know what they would be interested in trying the next time they attend the service.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for Support Workers/Practitioners to work in our weekend services for children and young people with additional support needs based in Edinburgh. About the Role

We are looking to recruit a Team Leader who will support our Service Manager in managing our team. As an experienced social care practitioner, you will ensure that our people continue to receive exceptional, person-centred support we provide by being responsible for:

  • Proven work experience of having worked within the building services or engineering sector including basic electrical, plumbing & joinery within either commercial, social care or domestic settings.

  • IT literacy/experience using the Microsoft suite of programs.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Generating income through income through development of a major donor pipeline, which will include high net worth individuals and corporate bodies
  • Researching and identifying potential major gift funders, approaching and cultivating relationships with prospects to generate high value gifts
  • Managing a portfolio of major gift donors, ensuring donors receive effective stewardship to maximise funding opportunities
  • Managing donor details on our fundraising database (Raisers Edge) and leveraging information from the database to enhance income generation opportunities
  • Monitoring and evaluating the success of fundraising activities, providing accurate reporting to internal stakeholders where required

Requirements for this role:

  • Demonstrable experience of securing major gift funding
  • A track record of developing prospects and building on existing relationships to increase income generation
  • Well-developed written and verbal presentation skills, with the confidence to convey complex information concisely and without jargon
  • A target driven nature, with experience of working to financial KPIs

We are looking for an experienced Co-Production Leader to ensure at each key stage of the project that our customer views, and those of their family, are fully considered and that their best interests are being met. Key Tasks

Develop an annual Co-production delivery plan to engage with our customers and their families to help them express their views and wishes for the Project.

Develop a Customer Engagement plan and as associated Communication strategy that ensures all customers and families are fully involved and able to contribute to the Project.

Identify appropriate external parties (e.g. advocates) and engage with them to support our customers and their families to meaningfully contribute to the Project.

Produce independent information in a range of accessible forms for Customers and families to ensure they understand the work that is being undertaken and the implications for them.

Conduct events and one-to-one meetings with Customers and their families to engage them with the project work, to understand their priorities, their requirements and the reasons for these.

Will similarly engage with staff groups and individuals to ensure that they have a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the Project with both their views as to what they need and what they think will help the customers.

Capture and summarise the views and wishes expressed in a narrative report and will present their findings to the Project Board and other parties as required.

Corseford College is seeking to appoint a team of student support workers who will provide care and support to students. The support you will provide is essential to ensuring our students can access their learning program. The role of a student support worker will vary, meaning no two days will be the same. From supporting the delivery of teaching, and learning as well as helping to support individuals with learning programmes and learning materials appropriate to the needs of the students.

Students at Corseford College will have a range of care and support needs. The needs of the students vary, some will be identified as having severe or profound multiple learning disabilities. They may also have physical and sensory impairments or a range of communication difficulties. Our students will have a range of support needs including in some cases requiring a high level of personal and intimate care needs which need to be met. This might include, administering medication, epilepsy management, gastrostomy feeding, moving and assisting and mealtime assistance. Full training and support will be provided to enable you to take on these roles.

Corseford College is Scotland’s first specialist college providing post-school education to this cohort. The college is aimed at Young People who have left or are leaving school with complex learning disabilities, aged 18-25. The college has been developed around the idea of enabling young people to continue to learn and engage in their education journey as they enter the adult world.
