We plan to double our income by 2029, and we are seeking a dedicated and strategic Chief Financial Officer who will be a key part of helping us address that challenge.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will develop and deliver an effective financial strategy which enables service delivery and growth. You will bring strong financial leadership, working closely with our senior management team and Board to ensure effective financial governance and enable informed decision-making. You will act as a trusted source of advice and insight to our CEO and to our Board, along with its Audit and Risk Committee. Given our ambitions to grow and diversify you will be a skilled strategist, delivering robust business cases for future investment, as well as critical challenge that will help drive Age Scotland’s strategy and operational plans. As a key member of the senior management team, you will play a vital and participative role in shaping both the strategic and operational decision-making processes and ultimately ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the charity.

We are looking for a highly experienced and strategically minded finance professional with strong commercial acumen and the intellectual flexibility to move easily between detail and the bigger picture. Highly analytical with the ability to get “behind the numbers” and carry out financial analysis to allow well-informed commercial decisions you, will also bring a pragmatic approach, the ability to work at pace and a strong commitment to the aims and vision of Age Scotland.

Age Scotland embraces hybrid working and whilst our Headquarters are in Edinburgh, the successful candidate would not be required to be in the office on a full-time basis.

We work in Scotland with older people’s groups who provide vital activities and services for older people in their local community. We campaign on the issues that older people tell us are important to them.

As Resource and Administration Officer, you will support the work of the Community Development team, providing high quality information and administration. You will be a central source of information and support to Age Scotland members, developing good professional relationships with members and ensuring that they are at the heart of Age Scotland’s work.

You will also be involved in supporting the administration of Community Development events and the Community Grants Programme, as well as developing, monitoring, and reviewing systems and procedures to ensure maximum organisational effectiveness.

The post will be a hybrid blend of a minimum of 3 days office based (in Edinburgh) and home-based work.

As Energy Trainer, you will be involved in developing and delivering online and face-to-face energy and cost of living advice workshops for older people in Scotland, and those who support them. You will represent Age Scotland at community events and conferences, providing information and making referrals to our helpline for tailored advice.

Our workshops and events cover a variety of energy and cost of living related issues, including:

• saving energy and money.

• understanding energy bills and tariffs.

• the health-related impacts of living in a cold home.

• the Priority Services Register.

• fire and carbon monoxide safety.

• smoke and heat alarm regulations.

• financial support including benefits, home energy efficiency grants and schemes, and social tariffs.

• other information, advice and support provided by Age Scotland.

You will play a hand in training staff members and corporate partners about the issues people face in later life, collecting qualitative and quantitative feedback for project evaluation, and supporting the development of Age Scotland’s energy and cost of living related information resources.

The post will be mainly home-based in mainland Scotland north of the central belt and will require frequent travel around Scotland.

That’s why we provide free information, advice and friendship to support older people on a diverse range of topics.

Older people in Scotland need our support now more than ever and through living our values you will play a significant part in empowering and enabling them to access their rights and entitlements.

People-centred in approach, you will be responsible for providing an exemplary ‘First Port of Call’ service in a hybrid virtual contact centre environment. You will respond to inbound and outbound contact, providing information and friendship to older people living in Scotland, their families and carers. You will provide cover and support to other telephony services within Age Scotland.

Veterans Project Officer

As Veterans Project Officer, you will assist the Veterans Project and Unforgotten Forces team deliver their services across Scotland and facilitate the smooth running of the department. This will include delivering Age Scotland’s core veterans training in face-to-face and online formats, as well as keeping these training sessions up-to-date and developing new themes when required.

This role will also involve extending the outreach of the Veterans Project training programme by engaging with new audiences who would benefit from participating. This will include being responsible for the external communications output of the Unforgotten Forces and Age Scotland Veterans projects.

The post will be hybrid, with some time in our office in Causewayside (Edinburgh) as well as home-working.
