Glasgow Community Food Network works in partnership to drive the development of a flourishing food system for all in Glasgow. Join our ambitious Food & Climate Action project as our Project Coordinator and be at the forefront of increasing the space and opportunities for food growing and other urban agricultural activities in the city. You will be part of a committed, supportive, team working collaboratively across different strands of activity.

We support flexible and hybrid working however the successful applicant is expected to be available for in-person team time and community engagement on a regular basis in Glasgow.

Job description

• Planning and delivering a series of food growing-themed events, open days and learning opportunities across Glasgow
• Maintaining regular communication with community members and other stakeholders about a large longer-term urban agriculture project based in Ruchill and negotiating different levels of engagement and interaction related to the project.
• Keeping up to date with all relevant growing and urban agriculture stakeholders in Glasgow and through national partnerships and providing support where appropriate.
• With support, devising strategies and plans for work in Glasgow around urban agriculture
• Inputting into the overall steer of the project as part of a cooperative decision-making process.
• Supporting and collaborating with team members as part of an evolving and ambitious project.
• Reporting and evaluation in line with project requirements
• Involvement in project activities and delivery when needed or appropriate as part of the collaborative culture of the team.

Criteria

Essential

• Experience of relationship building and stakeholder management across different sectors, including grassroots community engagement, community organisations, and local authorities
• Knowledge of food growing, including urban agriculture and agro-ecological and permaculture practices
• Experience of event delivery and coordination in a variety of settings
• Problem solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft package and project coordination using IT
• Strong communications and collaboration skills in a team setting
• Commitment to the values of Glasgow Community Food Network and the aspirations of the Food & Climate Action Project

Desirable

• Experience of working on community co-design projects
• Experience in setting up Market Garden or community growing spaces
• Experience of managing a budget
• An understanding of the food growing sector and policy landscape in Scotland
