Top job! Chief Executive Officer

  • Cosgrove Care
  • Full time
  • £72,000 – £82,000
  • Hybrid: Giffnock, Glasgow
  • Closing 7th June 2026

Cosgrove Care is a leading Scottish charity supporting children, adults and older adults with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs to live full, independent lives as equal members of society. Founded over 60 years ago by parents determined to secure a better future for their children, Cosgrove has grown into a vibrant, values-led organisation supporting more than 250 people and their families across West Central Scotland.

The organisation’s work is underpinned by a belief in equality, inclusion and opportunity. Guided by its core values - Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence - Cosgrove delivers person-centred services that empower individuals to thrive and achieve their potential.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and inspirational direction across Cosgrove Care. The CEO will ensure that the organisation continues to deliver high-quality, person-led care and support, while developing new services and income streams to secure long-term sustainability.

This pivotal role carries responsibility for driving innovation, strengthening partnerships, and representing Cosgrove’s mission and values at both local and national levels. Working closely with a dedicated Corporate Management Team and an engaged Board, the CEO will lead the delivery of Cosgrove’s strategic plan — enhancing its impact, financial resilience and influence within the wider social care sector.

Key priorities will include:

• Providing visionary leadership that inspires staff, volunteers and stakeholders to uphold Cosgrove’s mission and values.

• Ensuring excellence in governance, compliance and service delivery across all operations.

• Leading the organisation’s income generation and diversification strategy to secure sustainable growth.

• Building strong and collaborative relationships with partners, funders, policymakers and the wider community.

• Championing the rights and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs.

The role combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership and is ideally suited to a values-driven executive or senior leader seeking to make a lasting impact in Scottish social care.

The Person

Cosgrove Care is seeking an exceptional leader with a deep commitment to equality, inclusion and person-centred practice. The successful candidate will bring:

• A proven track record of leadership within a complex, values-based organisation in the third, public or private sector.

• Experience developing and implementing strategic plans and driving organisational growth.

• Strong financial and commercial acumen, with demonstrable success in income generation and business development.

• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build meaningful partnerships and advocate effectively at senior levels.

• A collaborative and compassionate leadership style that empowers teams and fosters high performance.

Experience within social care, health or related sectors, alongside a strong understanding of the policy landscape in Scotland, would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This appointment offers an outstanding opportunity to lead a respected and ambitious charity with a proud history and a clear vision for the future. The CEO will play a central role in shaping the next chapter of Cosgrove Care’s development - driving innovation, ensuring sustainability, and championing equality for people with additional needs across Scotland.

For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Laura Syme, HR Manager on 0141 620 2500.
