Thorntree Street opened in 2004 and is dedicated to supporting 12 men over the age of 50. The service provides 12 self-contained apartments with communal kitchen space, daily meals are provided to ensure our tenants nutritional needs are met. Shared areas with entertainment, and a garden space offer the chance for social connections. Developed in partnership with Bield Housing Association, Thorntree Street introduced a new model of support for older men who have experienced long-term homelessness. By offering a stable, supportive environment that combines supported living with a care-at-home approach, the service aims to break the cycle of repeat homelessness for each tenant, and should they wish, a home for life.

In our temporary supported accommodations, the core purpose of this job is to support people who are experiencing homelessness, to build the skills and support networks they need to prepare them for independent living when they move into their own tenancy. In our supported settled accommodations, the core purpose is to support people who have experienced homelessness and have complex needs, to give them a secure home for life in a supported environment.

The Support Worker will provide housing support, both practical and emotional support to residents using our service that promotes choice, inclusion in community of choice and encourages personal responsibility. To work with CEC and staff to support people to keep their tenancy, through ‘Letters of Support’ and positive move ons where possible. The support worker will be an effective team player in a challenging environment and establish and maintain positive professional relationships with a range of external services. The Support Worker will also maintain the building protocols such as, fire testing, reporting repairs, checking and reporting on equipment, preparing for PAT, daily cleaning duties and alerting the Service Lead to any concerns or issues arising.

The Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre provides emergency accommodation and support to anyone who would otherwise be sleeping rough in Edinburgh. After a successful lifesaving winter season beginning in 2025, the Welcome Centre will now continue operating for a further 11 months, through to 31 March 2027, in the first instance.

We are looking for a Day Shift Project Worker to work 12-hour day shifts from 7:45 am to 8:00 pm (usually seven on/seven off). You will work alongside partner agencies to build support plans for individuals staying at the Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre, helping move guests to more suitable long-term accommodation.

The post is a fixed-term contract ending on 31 March 2027.

We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge, skills and experience:

• Experience in working with the vulnerable
• An understanding of mental health and addiction issues
• Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
• An SVQ level 3 in Care/Promoting Independence or equivalent is desirable
• Administrative skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to respond to a changing environment
• Ability to maintain clear & accurate records
• Successful applicants for this post will require membership in the PVG scheme.

Our Trauma Support Services support survivors of abuse in a variety of ways to support people to live the life they want to live. We are seeking an experienced support and development worker to provide emotional and practical support to people who are adult survivors of childhood trauma, such as physical, emotional, sexual or neglect.

The successful applicant will work with people on an individual and group basis with both practical and emotional support, within our Short-Term Trauma Support Service. You will support people with the impact of their trauma, to improve their mental health and wellbeing, and to develop coping strategies.

The Edinburgh Locality Support Worker will deliver dedicated and empowering support to women in Edinburgh, who have experienced or are at risk from domestic abuse, in accordance with SSSC Standards. This role encompasses practical and emotional support, advocacy, and collaborative working with statutory and third-sector organizations to achieve the best possible outcomes for women in our service. A trauma-informed approach is essential, ensuring that women receive comprehensive, person-centred support in a safe and supportive setting. Support is delivered through telephone support, one-to-one meetings, and attendance at joint meetings with partner agencies.

This post is open to hybrid working between office and home, if the candidate can evidence an appropriate environment for home working, ensuring confidentiality and privacy for service users making contact through telephone or online methods. Travel within Edinburgh to meet service users will be required as well.
