At Capability Scotland Riccarton Hub, we provide specialist daytime support and occasional 24-hour short break respite services, for adults with physical, learning and complex disabilities, promoting independence, inclusion, and wellbeing through personalised care and enriching activities.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit a Team Leader who will work alongside a small group of team leaders to support our Service Manager in managing our team. As an experienced social care practitioner, you will ensure that our people continue to receive exceptional, person-centred support we provide by being responsible for:

• Rota management
• Staff management, supervision, recruitment, and development
• Managing customer activities
• Health and Safety
• Compiling and checking Care and Support plans for customers
• Management of medicines procedures
• Financial management for customers (dependent on service)
• Liaising with families, health and care professionals and social workers
• Sleepovers & on-call support (dependent on service – if appropriate additional payments are provided)

Hours – 18.5 hours per week. Predominantly Monday-Friday between 8.30am & 5.30pm (we are open to discuss doing hours over 2/3 days) & with occasional on-call cover required in our respite service, therefore a flexible approach to working is required.

Experience/qualifications/key skills required

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is desirable as is a willingness to take on any personal development opportunities. You should have a care related SVQ Level 4, or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale. You should have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

Autism Initiatives works positively alongside autistic people, their families and carers to provide specialist services tailored to each individual.

Our head office building is shared with our Edinburgh Outreach services, creating a closely connected working environment. As Receptionist you will act as the first point of contact, providing a friendly and professional service to all callers and visitors. You will undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the smooth and efficient operation of Head Office Scotland. Please refer to the job description for further detail.

This role is delivered as a job share between two post holders. Working days for this post will be Monday to Wednesday, with fixed working hours of 8.30 am – 4.30 pm.

Working closely with the Service Manager, you will support the operational running of the site by coordinating daily logistics of the service. This includes organising and managing rotas to ensure that our services are adequately staffed. You will monitor the delivery of our service, respond to emerging challenges, and ensure that organisational policies, procedures, and quality standards are followed at all times.

This post holder will serve a vital role in support of both.

They will provide information in person and by report to inform the decision-making of directors and committees. This will strengthen existing and developing governance structures.

They will refine existing recording and systems improving effectiveness of those without removal of or risk to the established practice which crucially supports member-led control and ownership.

They will work directly with the auditor or other professional contacts as required. They will extract and provide timely and accurate financial details to support reporting to funders by the wider team.

The information they generate will contribute directly to committee and Board of trustee financial updates. In so doing ensure that internal decision makers have a full, accurate and up to date awareness of financial balances, forecasts on spending and information to support timely planning.

Their work will inform the financial aspects of future grant applications and maintain awareness of all the appropriate dates on expected income change.

Production of quarterly management accounts, salary payment checks and everyday expenses is included in the role.

This best serves the purpose and recognises the skills that this postholder will bring from day one.

These contributions strengthen this organisation’s sound financial process, improving transparency of member decision makers’ priorities.

This is not a development or project delivery role. It informs both in partnership with fellow team members but the focus is entirely on finance.

It will supply clear information to illustrate and evaluate all development activity and our charitable purpose.

The postholder will benefit from team support to identify the appropriate structures or specific team members to approach in order to generate, develop and provide information to populate funding reports and applications for future funding.

The role safeguards the organisation’s resources and ensures that our work continues to be led by and for people with learning disabilities.
