Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire is a charity making a big impact on families with young children (under 5) in the local area.

We are excited to welcome a new, confident, passionate and enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to our team who will support the recruitment and training of our volunteers.

Day-to-day, the Volunteer Coordinator will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive volunteering experience, welcoming and supporting volunteers throughout their journey with the organisation. They will build strong relationships with volunteers, providing effective induction, training, guidance and ongoing support to help them feel confident and valued in their roles. They will identify opportunities to engage, develop, and retain volunteers, ensuring that their skills and experiences are utilised effectively to support families. Working across North Lanarkshire, they will

promote volunteering at events, open days and through social media. They will promote an inclusive volunteering environment, actively seek and respond to volunteer feedback, and support volunteers to contribute to the development and delivery of family support services.

The role is initially funded until 31st March 2027, but with an expectation of multi-year funding thereafter.

Do you have what we are looking for?

• Friendly, approachable and passionate about supporting and developing volunteers to make a positive contribution to children, families and the wider community.
• Experience of recruiting, welcoming, supporting and training volunteers, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive volunteering experience.
• The ability to develop creative and innovative volunteer recruitment campaigns.
• Experience of planning and delivering engaging volunteer training, development and induction programmes that build confidence, skills and knowledge.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted and supportive relationships with volunteers, colleagues, partners and diverse groups.
• Knowledge and understanding of effective volunteer engagement, motivation and retention, with the ability to recognise and respond to volunteers’ individual needs.
• Confident in using IT systems (Microsoft Office, CRM platforms) for monitoring and administration.
• A car driver with access to a car for which expenses will be paid.

Families Here and Now Service (FHANS) is an exciting project created in 2024 as part of the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund. This project is funded by North Lanarkshire Council providing holistic support for the whole family in local communities/hub areas.

You will play a key role in developing this service, working alongside families and community partners. The service is a collaboration between four charities: Barnardo’s, Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire, Action for Children and Impact Arts, and you will work closely with colleagues from these organisations.

This outreach support role covers the North Lanarkshire area, based in or around community hubs/schools/nurseries and family homes. The aim of the service is to enable families (pregnant and/or with children up to age 18 years/26 years for care experienced children) to access supports at the earliest possible time, ensuring a ‘whole family’ and ‘no wrong door’ approach.

The service operates 7 days a week between the hours of 8 am – 8 pm, 365 days per year and is staffed on a rota basis.

The postholder will be required to work at least one evening per week and at least one weekend in four.

A valid UK driving licence and access to a car are essential for the role. The role is initially funded until 31 March 2028.

We are now excited to welcome a new, confident, passionate, and enthusiastic Family Engagement Coordinator to our team who will support the expansion, promotion and delivery of group work in North Lanarkshire.

Day-to-day the Family Engagement Coordinator will be welcoming families into a warm and inclusive space, helping to build strong relationships and attachments through tailored play activities. They will nurture children’s growth and development, offer empathetic support, provide practical help, and guide families to local services when needed. Working across various venues in North Lanarkshire, they will create a safe, supportive environment where families feel valued and connected.

The role is initially funded until 31st March 2027. The project duration is initially for the remainder of 2026-2027 but with an expectation of multi-year funding thereafter (subject to ratification by the Scottish Government).

Overview

About this role

The Project Lead will play a key role in supporting the Regional Coordinator / Service Manager with the day-to-day management, coordination and delivery of the OPFS local service.

The postholder will provide operational leadership and support to the service team, helping to ensure high-quality, person-centred and effective support is provided to single parents, children and families.

The Project Lead will support the delivery of the Whole Family Support Third Sector Delivery Fund, working alongside families to address the issues that matter most to them and contributing to improved outcomes for parents, children and families.

Working within the My Life and Me framework, they will support a strengths-based, trauma-informed and whole-family approach. They will help ensure families receive coordinated support based on their individual circumstances, strengths, priorities and aspirations.

The Project Lead will support staff practice, workforce development, quality assurance, performance monitoring and service improvement. They will work closely with colleagues and partners to develop effective pathways and ensure families can access the appropriate support from OPFS and other services.

The postholder will provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and support to staff and relevant colleagues as delegated and will deputise for the Regional Coordinator / Service Manager when required.

The role will contribute to the development of local whole-family support approaches and to the wider OPFS ambition that families experience a “no wrong door” approach, where they can access coordinated support without having to repeatedly tell their story.

Working within the My Life and Me framework, the postholder will provide operational leadership, support and supervision to staff, ensure high-quality service delivery and undertake quality assurance activities.
