Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent charity providing free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and support to people across Renfrewshire. We provide a holistic advice service, helping people understand their rights, maximise their income and find a way forward with the issues affecting their lives.

Working alongside Home-Start and Save the Children UK, you will provide holistic advice and support to families with babies and children under five who are experiencing poverty or financial hardship. You will help families maximise their income, access benefits and services, address financial challenges and deal with the wider issues affecting their household.

The role will involve working intensively with a smaller number of families, allowing you to provide ongoing, wraparound support tailored to each family’s individual circumstances and help them build greater financial stability and wellbeing.

Key role outcomes:

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver holistic advice and support to families with babies and children under five who are experiencing poverty or financial hardship.
• Maximise family income through benefits, grants and other available financial support.
• Provide advice and ongoing casework across welfare rights, housing, money and other issues affecting the household.

Drumchapel Citizens Advice Bureau is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with the drive and enthusiasm to support the delivery of a high-quality advice and information service to the public.

We are an established Citizens Advice Bureau with a strong reputation for delivering well-managed, proactive and quality-assured services, both directly and in partnership with statutory and voluntary sector agencies.

The Session Supervisor will play a key role in supporting and overseeing the delivery of our generalist advice service. The postholder will provide day-to-day session support to advisers, including guidance on advice queries and more complex cases, helping to ensure that clients receive accurate, appropriate and high-quality advice.

The role will also involve undertaking case checking and quality assurance, providing constructive feedback to advisers, identifying areas for improvement and supporting the maintenance and development of advice quality across the service.

As the role provides day-to-day support to advisers during service delivery, the postholder will be required to work on site Monday to Friday. This post is not currently offered on a hybrid-working basis.

About you

Applicants must have:

• Strong knowledge and experience of delivering generalist advice, including welfare benefits, debt/money advice, housing and employment.

• Demonstrable experience of providing session support to advisers within an advice-giving environment, including providing guidance on complex or unusual enquiries.

• Experience of supervising, supporting and developing staff and/or volunteers.

• Experience of undertaking case checking and quality assurance, including assessing the accuracy and quality of advice and client records and providing constructive feedback.

• The ability to provide constructive feedback and support advisers to maintain and improve the quality of their work.

The Thrive Early Family Adviser will provide high-quality, holistic advice and casework to families with children under five as part of the Thrive Early programme, delivered in partnership by Citizens Advice Scotland, Home-Start UK and Save the Children UK.

The role combines elements of a Generalist Adviser and Caseworker and will involve working closely with families who may experience barriers to accessing traditional advice services. The postholder will build trusted relationships and provide tailored advice, advocacy and practical support to improve families' financial wellbeing and access to services.

The postholder will work collaboratively with Home-Start colleagues and other project partners to provide coordinated whole-family support and will operate within Drumchapel Citizens Advice Bureau's established management, supervision and quality assurance arrangements.

About you

• A minimum of one year's relevant experience within the advice sector.

• Experience of providing welfare rights, money, debt, generalist or other relevant advice and casework.

• Experience of managing ongoing client work or a caseload.

East Ayrshire Citizens Advice Bureau (EACAB) is a progressive and innovative advice organisation dedicated to providing free, impartial, and confidential advice to local communities. We offer both generalist advice and specialist casework services to support people in need across East Ayrshire.

We are seeking 2 highly organised, experienced and values-driven Generalist Addvisers to support the Family Forward Ayrshire project, an ambitious whole-family support programme funded through the Scottish Government's Whole Family Support Third Sector Delivery Fund to join the team in East Ayrshire Citizens Advice Bureau in Kilmarnock. This role is offered on a temporary basis until March 2027 with extension subject to funding and is offered at 35 hours per week.
