Edinburgh Food Project is seeking an experienced Welfare Rights Adviser to join our Money Advice Service.

Our outreach model delivers advice in food bank and community settings, helping us reach people who may not otherwise access support. You'll work directly with individuals experiencing financial hardship, providing high-quality advice, advocacy and casework that helps address both immediate needs and the root causes of poverty.

We're seeking a skilled adviser who can confidently navigate complex welfare, debt and housing issues, manage a varied caseload and maintain high standards of case recording and reporting. You'll combine technical expertise with a person-centred approach, building trust with clients and supporting them to take positive steps towards greater financial stability.

About the East Lothian Foodbank

East Lothian Foodbank provides food and emergency daily essentials to local people who are experiencing hardship in East Lothian. Alongside the provision of emergency food parcels and essentials, we offer a money advice service and practical support to individuals and families who use our service. In addition to this, we work with partners and local community to influence policy towards ending poverty in East Lothian.

As an independent Scottish charity, we are fortunate to also be part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by Trussell, working together to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank to survive.

About this role

This is a new opportunity at our Foodbank for a proactive, hands-on individual with strong organisational skills and a passion for supporting local communities.

As part of an expansion of services, our Food Club will provide access to affordable food alongside opportunities for connection, wellbeing support and community building. Our hub is more than a food space - it is a welcoming community space that helps build stability and positive futures.

You will coordinate the day-to-day running of our Food Club, ensuring it stays well organised, fully stocked and operates effectively. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will support staff, manage logistics and to potentially help develop new sites as our hub grows.

Duties will also include – organising advice/support drop-ins from a range of local agencies, reviewing and promoting memberships to people who use our service and building and maintaining strong relationships with individuals across our community.

Due to internal promotion, we are excited to share news of an opening for a new Executive within our Partnerships and Philanthropy Team, aligned to Corporate Partnerships.

The Corporate Partnerships team are moving through a period of growth which will set this team up to strategically focus their resources and skill where it is most needed in order to attract, cultivate and retain valuable corporate partnerships.

Reporting to the Senior Partnership Executive, the Partnership Executive will be involved in maintaining existing supporter relationships through the Corporate Fundraising journey, ensuring all possible opportunities for revenue generation are utilised.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have skill and experience in the following areas:

• Experience of working in account management in either a fundraising or commercial environment.
• Experience of achieving and exceeding income targets or growing income.
• The ability to seek out, identify and build on opportunities to maximise income.
• Ability to represent CHAS internally and externally.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of varied audiences.
• Driven and engaging personality with strong people skills.
• Driving Licence and access to a car

LifeCare has a proud 85-year history of providing uplifting, positive and practical support for older people, and they’ve never been needed more. Their services are delivered to older people age 50+ who need care within the home, out and about in the community and from their registered day clubs. This includes people living with dementia, frail older people, those living with mobility problems, poor mental health, people experiencing isolation and loneliness, and dedicated unpaid carers.

Their vision is of a society where no older person is left alone or isolated. To achieve their vision they are looking for a Trusts and Grants Fundraiser who can ensure focus is given to their pipeline of opportunities, ensure an excellent funder experience, and ultimately deliver sustainable income.

The Trusts and Grants Fundraiser is a new role for LifeCare Edinburgh, it will be offered initially as a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential to extend or become a permanent position.

This role would suit someone who has experience of trusts and grants, either at an officer or fundraiser level, who can demonstrate experience of developing a trust and grants pipeline, creating compelling applications and directly delivering income success.

There is great flexibility available; the successful postholder can choose weekly hours between 21 – 28 hours, their working pattern across the week and how often they attend the LifeCare Centre (with a minimum requirement of once per month to remain connected to service delivery).
