We’re excited to be recruiting a Policy & Advocacy Manager to help shape and deliver WWF Scotland’s policy and advocacy work, influencing decisions that support a future where people and nature can thrive together.

Reporting directly to the Head of Policy & Advocacy (Scotland), you’ll lead on defined areas of environmental policy while contributing flexibly across a wider range of priorities, projects and campaigns.

You’ll help lead work to build political and public understanding of WWF Scotland’s priorities, develop evidence-based policy solutions and strengthen support for change across government, parliament, the third sector, business and wider society.

This is a varied and influential role combining policy development, research, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and project leadership. You’ll monitor and analyse relevant Scottish Government policy and legislation, identify policy solutions, develop clear and persuasive briefings and advocate WWF’s positions with Scottish Ministers, MSPs, civil servants, parliamentary committees and other senior stakeholders.

Working closely with communications and public affairs colleagues, you’ll also help turn complex policy and research into compelling stories, messages and public-facing content. You will represent WWF Scotland in the media and at external events, helping to protect and strengthen our reputation as an authoritative and trusted voice.

You’ll build strong partnerships with coalitions and organisations across Scotland, while working closely with WWF-UK colleagues to ensure devolved perspectives are reflected across wider policy, programme and advocacy work.

You’ll also lead or support the development and delivery of policy projects and programmes, including identifying funding opportunities, securing support and coordinating work across internal and external teams.

We’re looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with a strong grasp of policy detail. You’ll be a confident communicator and relationship builder, comfortable working in complex and fast-moving environments and motivated by the opportunity to influence change for nature and climate.

Skills and experience

You’ll bring the skills and experience needed to succeed in this role, including:

Essential

• Significant demonstrable experience of developing and influencing policy through government, parliament or public affairs activity
• Strong understanding of the Scottish political and policy environment, including the role of the Scottish Government and Scottish Parliament
• Strong policy analysis skills, with the ability to use research and evidence to develop credible and practical policy solutions
• Experience writing clear, persuasive briefings, consultation responses or policy recommendations for different audiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly, accurately and persuasively
• Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to work with senior decision-makers across government, politics, the third sector and civil society
• Track record of delivering or commissioning research and managing associated budgets or suppliers
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and workstreams
• Experience identifying funding opportunities and contributing to successful proposals for policy, programme or project work
• Experience considering diversity, equity and inclusion when developing policy, programmes or solutions

Desirable

• Experience influencing policy specifically within the Scottish Government or Scottish Parliament
• Experience leading meetings with Ministers, MSPs, special advisers, senior civil servants or parliamentary committees
• Experience acting as a spokesperson in broadcast, print or digital media
• Experience developing public-facing communications, campaigns or stories from policy and research
• Experience working through coalitions, alliances or formal partnerships
• Experience leading projects, programmes or cross-functional teams including in a matrix structure

Right There has spent 200 years making sure that fewer people in Scotland end up homeless and fewer families fall apart. Last year alone, almost 4,000 people got the support they needed to stay in their homes and stay close to the people they love. We are a charity with a clear, urgent mission. We need you to help us make sure children, young people and families in Glasgow and the West get the right support, at the right time, from teams who are confident, skilled and well led.

This is a new Locality Manager role working alongside our Head of Children and Families. You will lead the strategic implementation and operational management of our Glasgow and West Children and Families programmes, including Young People Family Support, Mentoring, and South Ayrshire Supported Accommodation.

It is complex, stretching and the stakes are real. This is work with children, young people and families whose lives are affected by poverty, care experience, housing insecurity, trauma and family breakdown. But it is also rewarding, hopeful and, in the way that only work with meaning can be, genuinely good fun.

Your role

• Leading services well. You will directly manage delivery across our Glasgow and West Children and Families programmes, making sure services are safe, person-centred, strengths-based and aligned with Right There’s aims, values and strategic objectives. 
• Keeping the focus on quality and outcomes. You will lead delivery in line with agreed outcomes, robust operational controls and best-practice legislation and guidance, including UNCRC, The Promise, GIRFEC, Care Inspectorate standards and SSSC Codes of Practice. 
• Supporting teams to do their best work. You will lead, coach and develop service managers, coordinators and delivery teams, creating a positive culture where people feel supported, accountable and able to learn through reflective practice.
• Making data useful. You will make sure service data, KPIs, reporting and quality assurance are accurate, timely and used well, so decisions are grounded in evidence and services keep improving.
• Growing and developing services. You will take ownership of service development and annual business planning, investigating opportunities that align with existing provision and supporting proposals and tenders for new and developing work.
• Building trusted partnerships. You will represent Right There with commissioners, local authorities, social work, housing, health services, the Care Inspectorate and other partners, making sure relationships are purposeful, professional and rooted in the needs of the people we support.
• Managing risk, resources and compliance. You will oversee budgets, staffing, safeguarding, health and safety, complaints, reporting requirements and service standards, making sure the practical foundations are strong enough to support excellent delivery.

What you bring

• You understand the realities facing children, young people and families, and you believe support should be compassionate, practical and free from judgement.
• You know how to lead services that are person-centred, strengths-based and grounded in clear professional boundaries.
• You bring knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and practice across social care, family support, housing and safeguarding.
• You are confident with quality assurance, performance management and service reporting, and you use data to improve what happens in practice.
• You know how to build and lead teams, support managers, hold standards and create a culture where people can do good work well.
• You can manage competing priorities, respond calmly to crisis and make sound decisions when things are complex.
• You build strong relationships with colleagues, commissioners, local authorities, social work, housing, health services and regulators.
• You genuinely care about social change — about children, young people and families having a fair chance at a safe and supportive place to call home.

You will need the right qualifications, or be willing to work towards them, including SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and SVQ Level 4 in Management or SCQF equivalent. You will also need to be able to travel across agreed geographical areas, with a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

Our offer

Salary up to £44,436 per annum. Full time, permanent, 35 hours per week, reporting to the Head of Children and Families. Your core place of work will be 15 Dava Street, Glasgow, with a minimum of three days per week in the office and travel across Glasgow and West programmes as required. About Us

We are Right There, a charity that recently celebrated our 200th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.

Every day, Cruse Scotland supports people all across Scotland who are grieving the death of someone important to them. Through the compassion and commitment of our highly trained volunteers and staff, we provide bereavement support that helps people navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives.

We're looking for an experienced, compassionate and confident leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as our Head of Client Services.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership for Cruse Scotland's client services. You'll lead a team of Area Managers, our Helpline Development Manager and Client Services Co-ordinator, to ensure our core services and projects are delivered consistently and continue to meet the changing needs of the people who rely on us.

This is a busy and varied leadership role. Alongside supporting and developing your managers, you'll oversee service quality, safeguarding, clinical governance, service performance and continuous improvement. You'll contribute to organisational strategy, work closely with the Board and senior colleagues, and use data, feedback and lived experience to help shape future services.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with practical operational leadership.

You will have experience of leading services, developing managers and driving continuous improvement within psychologically informed, counselling, therapeutic, health, social care or similar environments. You'll be comfortable leading through complexity, making sound decisions, managing safeguarding responsibilities and using data and insight to improve services.

You'll also become part of a small but mighty staff team of 18. Although we're based across Scotland with many working remotely much of the time, we make a real effort to stay connected.
