Role
Main Purpose of Job: Development Worker (Community)
Move On works in Scotland to unlock the potential of vulnerable young people and adults, enabling a positive future and improving people's lives. From our bases in Glasgow and Edinburgh we provide a range of services including mentoring, training, peer education, volunteering opportunities, guidance, support, advice and information.
We are looking for a Development Worker to lead and develop the delivery of our range of community-based employability programmes. The role will support adults to access and sustain an integrated employability programme, gaining practical work experience, skills and vocational training, including SQA qualifications. This Development Worker role will provide structured key work support, working with individuals to develop and work towards individual action plans.
This role will also involve working closely with local employers and wider partners.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Support individuals on a one-to-one basis to work towards their agreed goals.
- Provide a range of structured support to both young people and adults which may include face to face appointments, telephone support, mentoring support, or group meetings.
- Working with clients to create individual action plans and assessments to track, evaluate and monitor their progress on their employability journey.
- Complete case recording, monitoring and evaluations using various case management systems and databases.
- Achieve agreed targets and ensure compliance when recording outcomes and progressions on recording systems.
- Work in partnership with the wider Move On team and other agencies to link clients in with training, support and advice opportunities and ensure an integrated approach.
- Establish good external relationships and develop links with statutory and voluntary organisations to promote and develop all Move On’s services.
- Ensure that the safety and welfare of individuals are protected in accordance with Move On’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Follow and adhere to Move On’s Lone Working Policy when working with clients in the community.
- Participate in team meetings, regular support & supervision and training.
- Undertake any other duties or tasks which may be reasonably considered within the remit of the post.
Creativity:
- Shaping and delivering services – ability to provide a flexible response to the changing needs and circumstances of individual accessing programmes;
- Supporting volunteers to play a positive role, imparting valuable information and experiences to people to support their transition towards independence;
- Working alongside the Assistant Manager and Mentoring and Employability Manager to generate and implement ideas for improving service delivery and achieving positive outcomes;
- Understanding and working within the ethos of ‘helping people to help themselves’.

Mission Statement
Our long-term vision is to end youth homelessness, our more immediate mission is to ensure that every young person in Scotland has access to expert youth specific services to assist them to avoid, resolve and move on from homelessness.
Context
Working as part of our West Lothian Team, the Project Worker will work directly with young people age 16-25 yrs to coordinate and provide emotional and practical support to avoid, resolve and move on from homelessness.
Working directly with young people in their home or within a community setting the Project Worker will support young people to improve their independent living skills, access other services, manage finances and secure/maintain a permanent home.
The Project Workers are responsible for completing support plans and risk assessments and are the main contact for any key people involved in the care and support of young people.
About Sunny Cycles
Sunny Cycles is a community-focused cycling organisation which enables people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of cycling and cycling activities. Founded in 2022, we support mental health, social inclusion, and accessibility by providing led rides, cycling lessons, adaptive cycling for disabled people, and creating welcoming spaces for refugees and New Scots. We operate a community hub at Glasgow Green, and Victoria Park offering free or low-cost cycling sessions for individuals facing financial hardship, social isolation, or discrimination. We provide adapted bikes for those who cannot ride standard 2 wheelers and work with individuals and groups within the community to enable people to experience the mental and physical benefits of cycling.
Sunny Cycles operates as a registered charity and a social enterprise. As we grow, we are looking for a Development & Enterprise Officer who can strengthen our income generation pathways and support the long-term sustainability of our work, including our expanding work with disability and care-home cycling programmes.
Role Purpose
The Development & Enterprise Officer will lead on developing and delivering income-generating opportunities that support Sunny Cycles’ mission. This includes building partnerships, developing commercial activities, strengthening our social enterprise offer, managing budgets and ensuring financial sustainability so we can move away from grant funding.
The role is ideal for someone who is proactive, entrepreneurial, and passionate about inclusive cycling and community wellbeing.
